you said:too bad Prince didn't play any guitar besides Purple Rain -there is the key if prince have 2 backup guitar player he wouldnt play guitar that wouldnt be so good. prince is enough ,he dont need second guitar player and he knows it That's your opinion ... I would enjoy the shows much more if the rhythm section is tight, including one, preferably two rhythm guitar-players. So Prince can fool around, instead of being a boring prick who wants to proof he is an excellent guitar-player ... Indeed, it would be a shame if Prince decided not to play the guitar at all ... so, he shouldn't make that decision. Funk is all about having FUN, not about technical perfection (that's what we call f**king JAZZ, which has nothing to do with fun, nor soul) But I do respect your opinion ... I just don’t have the same opinion at all. But that's what keeps a forum alive. But I'll say it again: I do enjoy most of Prince's gigs very much! The only era I really never listen to anymore is the entire 90's: not to the official releases, not to the boots. [Edited 5/10/07 11:06am]

than I'll advice you to search for only one volume of two cd's ... (I think Volume 3 is the best of the three 2cd-sets)

http://www.genzbenz.com/?...ist&id=579 source above states mike was in the band for musicology rehearsals -- same time as fillmore '04 on a side note, i wonder how many boots are being sold and traded because of this thread [Edited 5/11/07 15:18pm]

Indeed ... but Prince took his job as a rhythm guitar-player very serious! During these two gigs Prince plays a lot of rhythm guitar ... we’re not talking about a few riffs now and than like he plays most of the time Imagine how brilliant it would have been if Prince played those cool funky-riffs like Controversy together with Miko? I never said that I couldn’t stand the gigs without a second guitarist ... I only said I would prefer two rhythm guitarist. These specific two concerts are outstanding, including Prince’s rhythm guitar. Seems like he doesn’t wanna proof his technical supremacy, he’s just having a good time. I do know some concerts that are really lacking the rhythm guitars because Prince doesn’t focus on the job he’s supposed to do (the Vegas gigs are among those concert, in my opinion)

Actually, without another guitar player you get to hear Prince play parts he otherwise wouldn't. Check out the 3121 Vegas recordings of "Kiss" for example - I think this is the first time with any live band that Prince has played the guitar solo on this tune. That's cool. I much prefer the guitar side of Prince, and his bands without a second (or third, oh lawd!) guitarist. Prince can play enough guitar, this ain't Lynyrd Skynyrd after all!
Has anyone peeped that instrumental version of "I Like It There" from one of the Vegas aftershows? I would've had a heart attack if I was there and P dropped a Chaos and Disorder tune on me. There's hope for Prince yet No Sonny T?
No Michael B? Ain't NPG! Spider Wisdom: http://bigesayswhat.blogspot.com/ the Manipulations: http://www.myspace.com/themanipulations

I have this too...I downloaded it and didn't buy it. Anyway, it is pretty good but doesn't compare to Prince's older live stuff, imo. But worth listening to.
