Prince Cancels Skit For The Simpsons I just went onto Housequake and I saw this story posted by lovenharmony:
PRINCE AXED SIMPSONS SLOT OVER CHAUFFEUR SCRIPT ROW PRINCE cancelled plans to appear in an episode of THE SIMPSONS, because creator Matt Groening wouldn't agree to a script written by the pop star's chauffeur. The Purple Rain hitmaker was set to follow Michael Jackson, Sir Paul MCCartney and the Rolling Stones, who have all made guest appearance on the animated hit. But pulled out of the show at the very last minute. Groening tells the New York Daily News, "Prince wanted to do the show, so we wrote him a script. It didn't work out, because his chauffeur had written a script too, and Prince wanted to use that one." It was found here:http://www.contactmusic.c...ow_1030008

What a Brat!
Prince, let the Simpsons people do what Simpsons people do best...and let your chauffeur get you there safely. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

I don't believe it for second. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Was Michael Jackson really in the Simpsons? I know the episode but I'm sure it wasn't MJ that did the voice

It was Michael Jackson voicing a deluded bald overweight guy who is convinced he is Michael Jackson. He also wrote and performed the "Happy Birthday Lisa" song on that episode. NOTE - I know this because I love the Simpsons, NOT MJ.

According to the DVD suplimental track, you are TOTALLY correct. It was not MJ's voice singing but his voice speaking. Good research! The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. I never believed this story. I tend to think it is Matt Groening making a joke at Prince's expense if anything.
Besides, in a way, Prince does appear in a Simpsons episode. The episode where hollywood comes to Springfield to make a Radioactive Man movie, the comic book shopkeeper goes onto the internet to find out who is playing the lead role, he contacts all his geek friends, and one is clearly Prince (or someone dressed as Prince) in his Purple Rain get-up.

I love that Prince is friends with Comic Book Guy.... There are a lot of Princely references in the Simpsons. In the episode where Santa's Little Helper and the lady dog had puppies, 2 of them were named Prince and The Puppy Formerly Known as Prince. And in the Springfield vs Shelbyville ep, Milhouse met the Milhouse from the rival town. When they realized they weren't alone, they hugged and said "So this is what it feels like, when doves cry!" "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

That's what I was wondering. My local newspaper also had a short story about this same subject, and the columnist was talking about this like it had just happened. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
