Yeah, it's gotten me emotional before; this and The Beautiful Ones (the latter almost bringing me to tears one time). Reminds me of someone I loved dearly who one day shunned me and dissapeared with no explanation.

Yeah, Purple Rain reminds me of some weird emotional stuff to, that probably isn't at all close to what P wrote it about. However, for some reason the music strikes me that way.

One unrelated thing, I love your avatar! biggrin

Very much so. Im listening to it now. It really does, expecially with all the shit I have going on in my life right now. You're not alone! TRUST ME!
Let's go down 2 the holy river,
If we drown then we'll be delivered.
If we don't then we'll never see the light.
If U die before U try,
U'll have 2 come back and face the light.
When U believe it, U got a good reason 2 cry.

It's a true classic. It just gets better with time, and after all this time I appreciate it more. That's what really gets me emotional everytime I hear it.

Sometimes...

It's a good song to have a really good cry to every once and awhile.
Everytime I comb my hair
Thoughts of you get in my eyes...

Vous etes tres belle...

It used to. It was to the point that whenever the song was on, I had to stop what I was doing and close my eyes and put my hand over my heart. Not anymore

Yeah... that song is just emotional by nature and I think it is really a keynote song for me that reminds me of all of the gifts Prince has given me, how he has influenced me and so on...

I'm sitting here listening to "Purple Rain" and it is making me really emotional. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs EVER written. Something about it, makes me long for being a child. It makes me think about the people I've hurt and disappointed in my life. I realize the song is a staple for Prince fanatics, and the casual listening, fans. However, I think to say, "It is a hit" takes away something from it. It almost cheapens it. The song is fuckin' powerful. Am I the only person who gets a little misty eyed when I hear "Purple Rain?" hmmm

Doesn't do that to me at all. No Pribce song has ever moved me to cry - unless it;s with laughter, like Bob George did.
