"67 minutes"?

Can anyone tell me what this means? Prince says this before his solo on "Play in the Sunshine" in the SOTT film and he also says it at the beginning of "The Ride" during a 1996 show in Honolulu. I imagine he does it elsewhere but those are the only 2 times I've heard it (I'm NOWHERE NEAR the stature of some of you guys! biggrin ) Does anyone know the origin of this? Is it just another example of his fixation on numbers?

Thanks!

I've wondered too. Maybe it is his fixation with numbers (maybe based on his birthday, 6/7?)

Whoa! June 7. Y'know, I'd buy that. I never thought of that. Even if someone else comes up with ironclad proof--as if anything like that could happen with Prince!--I'd still consider 6/7 as a viable explanation. Thanks!

I'm trying to remember some of the other examples of his weird use of numbers. I used to be up on them when I devoted most of my time to scrutinizing his stuff when I was in high school. There's "200 solos to go." What are some of the other ones? The more esoteric references, besides the obvious 2/to, Madhouse LPs, and the others?

Some more 67s in his songs:
Alphabet St.- I'm gonna drive my daddy's Thunderbird (My daddy's Thunderbird)
A white rad ride, '66 ('67) so glam - it's absurd
Housequake - Now that U got it, let's do the twist
A little bit harder than they did in '66
A little bit faster than they did in '67

Isn't that "Two organ solos to go"?

But you're right, the number stuff was one more thing to be fascinated with when getting into Prince, along with the symbols he would use in his album art. It made it so much fun to listen to and think about, and it still does.

It's actually a reference to Jimi Hendrix. If you watch the Monteray Pop Festival show Jimi says something to the effect of "don't mind us while we jam for 6 or 7 minutes." Prince says "6 or 7 minutes" right before he goes into the solo if I'm not mistaken. I read something about this years ago at the height of my purpleness.

Yes he says 6 or 7 minutes.
