OH MY GOD....yes. Talk about feelin the emotion, I was 13 when I first heard that, and it is as amazing now as it was then...even though it's dated. So glad someone gave a shout about that brillant piece.

Morris Day and Vanity, take your pick. OH YEAH OF COURSE!!!! So sad..... Sometimes it Snows in April - I love his sad voice in this one
I wouldn't classify this one as a true revelation of emotional pain, though. It's inspired by a movie character. [Edited 5/1/07 10:12am] Hmmmmm, I guess he is a true artist. He knows how to make the fiction character story sad even. "When I want to hear good music, I write it myself"

Gotta agree with purplesweat, the Beautiful Ones and Another Lonlely Christmas rank high but I also got to throw in Shhh and Call My Name because he's in emotional pain in trying to get her to realize how much she means to him. Also nod to Pink Cashmere and Adore. I know there ballads but I feel his "pain" in the sense of trying to get his feelings out.

But I feel with the song 'Sometimes it snows in April"' he is singing obout emotional pain, he has known the pain of death that way. At first I thought he was singing about his son, until someone told me it was from the movie, either way I can't feel his loss.

I don't see what you see. I always thought Shh was just... relaxed... I dunno, but I sure don't pick up sadness or pain from it. Call my Name, I could understand, but I don't see pain either... But that's just me. I'm just that's just my interpretation of them. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I am so sorry U don't feel it, the guitar sequence is just painful to listen to, it wails. The whole feel of the song is to stop the presses and relax and find time to make sweet love. Trust me if you have a man in love with you he'll want to say SHHH we got to break it down, down, down. But in this life it's hard to make and find the the time. Listen to the last half of the song, the guitar and him are wailing. Hey DreamPopRoylty it's all good it's just my view and I always respect your views so go easy on me. But that's just me. I'm just that's just my interpretation of them.

Hey DreamPopRoyalty it's all good it's just my view and I always respect your views so go easy on me. Hey, I take no offence. That's just the way songs work. Or any piece of art or literature actually. I learned in this one class "Experience in Literature" that you can interpret things based on your own experiences and they are diff. for every person. Prince's music is no different. When I hear "Shh", I dunno. It's such a great song with beautiful guitar that I fell in love with it. That's one of the best guitar solos he's ever done, I think. I like it too much to think of it as sad... but who knows? I've come up with several views of TGE, so next time I listen, I might get it... I also interpret Purple Rain as being sad, but I'm sure that Prince sees a happy interpretation of it (even if its bittersweet happiness). Or else why he plays it all the time? (aside of the fact its his best known work). He usually likes to play happier music. I mean, there's gotta be a flipside to it, right? had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
