Prince as a dancer has most definitely been influenced by James Brown.
But i would also name Jackie Wilson as an influence.

But i would also name Jackie Wilson as an influence. And Little Richard. I'd even throw some of Mick Jagger's swagger and theatrics into the mix, more for his stage presence than his dancing though. And even on that note, I wouldn't necessarily suggest Prince was influenced by him, more that they are similar, as are their egos. I'm done veering of subject. I'll go away now. I agree with Mick Jagger.
Especially the way Prince presented himself during the Dirty Mind / Controversy concerts reminds me of a Mick Jagger like swagger / cockieness.

Oh yes, must agree on this one too, but Prince handled it way better than Mick. Hammer was much quicker on the feet than all of them put together.. LOL.
If Prince did, it was later on in his career cause when Travolta was making those moves, Prince was still in his gold tights doing that silly foot stomp dance with his Farah Faucet hair I swear, somewhere between For You and 1999, that bitch learned how to dance, but back in the day, that shit was just embarrassing.

Prince was ALL about James Brown. Period. I mean everything, the splits, the spins, the manners. Even the screaming, or the "coldcut". It makes me wonder why Prince didn't pay homage to one of his biggest influence ?

Or maybe you don't know well Michael Jackson ? Mike is a good friend of John Travolta and he stole a lot his moves from Saturday night fever. He even stole the concept of "Your the one I want" song from the Grease movie with The way you make me feel video. It's so blatant and obvious.

You had to be there. Travolta revolutionized dancing, at least for white people. When this movie came out, one of my friends went to see before everyone else did. We asked him what it was about, and his response was: "It's about a bunch of guys just like us, except they get laid." Most accurate review EVER, LOL.

Travolta didn't revolutionize dancing, he was trained by some of the best choreograpers for the movie. Of course Travolta can dance, but the whole movie is choreographed.

I think Travolta is a good dancer, very smooth, too.
I think Prince's moves came mostly from Godfather. (MJ's too, but he's so overly choreographed that it never looks spontaneous) Someone will have to show me Little Richard dancing because I've not seen him dance. He's usually at the piano and was even back in the day. I remain a huge fan of Jackie Wilson and while I liked his moves, I don't see much of him in Prince. I contend that Prince is mostly JB. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
