I take no offence. But lucky me, my dad's paying for tutition and such... I would have had $250 saved up for this sort of thing... I ended up wasting it 9 or so animé DVDs that come to like $25 a piece... wish I had seen Prince coming, haha but I feel its good that I'm pacing myself when I'm just getting started. Imagine what shape I'd be in if I bought more than 3 albums at one time, lol- true true. right now i dont wanna even think abt Prince shopping that much until I found out wats goin on w/ my scholarship. I gotta get more Prince music soon... good thing I come home from college in a week You really need more time just absorbing what you do have. I remember buying the latest album, years ago, and listening to it for MONTHS solid, as well as the ones I already had, just because I had to wait another year for the new album. You do really grow to love things you first thought were not so great. I understand it's a bit more difficult these days with so much out there. You really should start with the early stuff and work your way through Prince's work and grow with it, as he grew making it. You may appreciate it more perhaps. Don't rush it though!

Imagine what shape I'd be in if I bought more than 3 albums at one time, Uh, oh, you're an anime AND Prince fan like me! Here's some advice: DOWNLOAD anime I've been doing that for awhile. It just can't be licensed to an American company(u'll find alot of great shows like Yu Yu Hakusho). Don't worry about it being illegal. Japanese and American companies are okay with downloading anime as long as it's not available in the US. Again, for the Prince music, go the used store route "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Thanx 4 the advice. As I'm still a bit of a newbie (been here for nearly 3 months now), I like getting advice however I can get (that's why I come here all the time, along with other things). I've been listening to my 4 albums for 1.5 months (got them in the middle of March)... and I'm pleased with my purchases. I've raved about them since I got them. I feel a little limited, though. Because TGE is an album that's really hard to put down and right now with my studies to worry about, I can't listen to it cuz I'll be too busy enjoying it and not enough time with my nose in the book. I feel like I'm pacing myself pretty good. In a week or two, I'll get 2 more albums (at most) and start the whole process over again like I did with each of my 4. But who's to say what'll happen when my 21st bday rolls around this summer? My list'll be full of Prince albums. I already know which 8 I "must have" in my collection. It all depends on what I find. A lot of people here keep telling me to go in chronological order... That's kinda impossible now that I've gotten a little bit of each era (one 80's album, one album and his 2 most recent ones)... and I just want to fill in some of the gaps. I want albums to also cater to my diff. moods, so I'll most likely get an album from one era and one from another. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Me being addicted to music (Prince, MJ, and Gym Class Heroes nearly made me OD the other day lol), I would buy an album one week and already looking to buy another. I had all the major albums in nearly a year.
Make a a checklist of all of his albums and everytime you buy one, check it off and you'll have a huge collection soon enough "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

But whenever I come into more, I know where it's going. But I don't like the idea of a completist. If so, then I'd just become obsessed with getting EVERYTHING I can get my hands on... and me & obsession was never really a good combination. I'd got a list of 8 (2 more albums might seep into the list if I feel the need to buy something but can't find it). As always, when I get something new, you guys will be the first to know. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

It was fun! Some old friends said "First it was MJ, now it's Prince? You really like listening to gay looking dudes' music huh?" I said "Yep, and if you don't like, how about you fuck off and make my life better?" I'll take great music over weak ass friends any day "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. I wouldn't say it was being a completist, it's more about knowing his growth as an artist and simply getting great music. Lemme tell you, I don't have a lot of cash either. I would save up or trade in old CDs that I had lying around. Some of friends of the family are Prince fans too. I was pretty lucky "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them.
