What was the last Prince item you bought?

Mine were For You and The Family on vinyl and the Rasberry Beret 12" single.

What about you? biggrin

Just got "the tracked" Lovesexy CD. So much better it being tracked. I know some liked it just as one track, but not me. It always bugged me that I had to hold down the forward button just to hear a song at the end of the CD.

I need a tracked version. I usually only want to hear a couple of the songs, but in my car I have to listen to the whole thing because I can't hold down the fast foward button the whole time I'm driving. sad

thanx...
Hopefully that'll be enough motivation for me to get some studying done. I've got 2 finals on Tuesday and I have particularly a 3-day weekend... the trick's going to be staying off here as much as I can... cuz you guys know how I get here. I keep coming back, multiple times a day...
Prince is good motivation, I just hope he can also keep his distance (guess that means I gotta stop looking at the picture threads for a while, they make me drool and :rightclick: )

I finally picked up The Homecoming DVD, the 1999 "triple threat" tour. It's fantastic. It was filmed at the Met Center in Minnesota. My wife was at the concert. I hate that it was shot with only one camera, but at least it was professional.

The Vanity 6 and Time sets were outstanding. It really showcased Jesse Johnson's guitar guitar prowess. At the time, his git skills were so far and above Prince's, I could see why Prince and Jesse may have had a little rivalry.

Prince has come a long way on guitar. A very fun piece of history purple history. I should have gone to the show when my wife (then, my girlfriend) asked me. mad
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Here's what u do, my friend, coming a college student to another wink

STOP GOING TO CHAIN STORES! Everything is priced really high. What you do is go to a used record store. For me, I live near UC Berkeley(not a student there, though) and I go to these two stores called Rasputin Music and Amoeba Music. If you live or visit the SF Bay Area and you're a Prince fan, it'll be like Heaven on Earth

yeah that's a good idea about the second hand stores. i bought all my prince
albums the day they were released since 1988 but everytime i visit used cd
stores i take a look at the prince rack as well and they always have stuff
in there for a few dimes. like the black album for only 5 euros or diamonds
& pearls for 3 euros. and they're not scratched or anything either.

i suggest to check them out. that way it's also a surprise which album you
end up buying cuz it depends on what they might have.

Yes! I am a broke college student too. When I became a Prince fan, I found other places to get music so that I could get more for my money. My favorite has been secondspin.com. They buy used cds as well and there is an option to get payed in store credit. If you have cds that you want to sell, you should check it out. You could get a lot of Prince stuff on that site.

cool

Definitely. in '05 I remember goin to Sam Goody and saw that they had Emancipation for $29. I said "Uh...FUCK THAT!" and went to Rasputin Music and saw it for $5.95 used lol

The people at the two stores are Prince fans. They have posters of him through the stores. You can find the Wendy and Lisa, Bobby Z, Jesse Johnson, Vanity, Sheila E regularly. You can find ALL of the 12" singles EASILY for the range of .99 cents to $7. I bought the I Wish U Heaven 12" for $2.99 and the I would Die 4 U(Extended)/Erotic City(Extended) 3 inch CD single for $1.00

In Amoeba, you'll see people with crates digging through the shelves and boxes and of all different backgrounds. You've ever seen a metalhead, a electronica DJ, a rapper, and jazz lover have a deep conversation about the evolution of music? I have lol

Haha, once when I've exhausted the possibilities, I'll take the online route. What's the fun in the hunt if it's online where I can pretty much get whatever I want? I like the thrill of "I wonder what they're going to have"... when the game gets dull, I'll go online.
I'm sure FYE will do me good for a while and there's a new Best Buy that's gonna open soon.

I advise you that online should be the SECOND option. Used stores should be the first, and chain stores should be the LAST.
I bought the bulk of my collection in less than 2 years and spent barely $150

i'm in college 2... and just like DreamyPop.. I'm broke! My mom got me a barnes and noble gift card- and i've been using that to buy CDs- but BN is way 2 expensive. and I have 2 save the rest of the money for books for my research. there are no record stores near where I live... ne1 here live in Miami and can tell me any good record stores. I buy alot of my CDs online though like half.com. So far its been great. but thats when my mom bought stuff for me- i don't think she'd buy Prince stuff for me. need a Plan B and C b/c knowing me, Plan B won't work.

haha...
It's not that I'm broke. I currently have enough for 2 albums. (Especially if that copy of Come I saw at FYE for $8.99 is still there when I get back).

It's just that I'm stuck on campus for another 4 days and I don't have a car to get to the local Best Buy or whatever.

it's okay. I take no offence.
But lucky me, my dad's paying for tutition and such... I would have had $250 saved up for this sort of thing... I ended up wasting it 9 or so animé DVDs that come to like $25 a piece... wish I had seen Prince coming, haha

but I feel its good that I'm pacing myself when I'm just getting started. Imagine what shape I'd be in if I bought more than 3 albums at one time, nutty
