What if Prince worked with Sade?

That session would produce some sweetness indeed.

i'd be afraid that he'd take her too far away from her style, though if he sat in with the band on some recordings, that would be pretty divine.

i don't think prince has anything to do with why i love sade. i just think she has a beautiful voice, and she's one of the rare female soul vocalists who doesn't oversing and pack a thousand melisma runs into every song. that's very refreshing to me.

I agree. They both have a unique style of their own and I'd much rather they stay separate.

I just remembering that in one of the Vegas aftershows I went to, Shelby was singing Cherish while Prince played guitar and sang back up for her, now I know Shelby and Sade sing different but it sounded so good I had to pull out my Sade cd that I had not listened to in forever and listen to that song over and over. They were really good!!!!

i really don't view Sade as a soul singer. She's more jazz/folkish to me. I can see what u mean about oversinging and the runs but then I would give that to someone like Angie Stone who I consider to be more soulful than Sade.

yeah, sade is more of a torch/jazz singer whereas angie stone is more gospel and energetic with her style...sade has recorded some up tempo/funky tracks, though even those have her trademark coolness to them.

I think the parallel people draw is the sexiness/sultriness of both Prince and Sade. Honestly, I think most really just wanna see them naked in bed 2gether smile

God forbid that Sade's bland sound wouldn't affect Prince in any way shape or form.

Alltough i dont consider Sade a bad singer at all, i think their vocal styles are both to smooth and stylished to mix 'good' together.

I would rather hear him 'duet' with a female singer who has a more raw, emotional, soulfull voice. I mean, listen to Prince duet with Mavis Staples, or with Rosie Gaines, its a combination that 'works'.

In my oppinion Sade is onre of the best female singers to come out of the 80's , if she were allowed to do her own thing own style and work with Prince on songs that suit her style then they could make some great music together.

There are many artists I am suprised Prince hasnt worked with, I have seen some collabereation suggestions made that I just dont see working like someone suggested Prince and Trent Reznor ok they both do the electronic stuff but they are in totally 2 different worlds in feel and lyrics. I have my own ideas too for example I can imagine Prince and Van Morrison doing a collaberation on the Ladder.
