^I don't get it. In the last speaking bit at the end of Darling Nikki, if it's backwards, why can I make out words when playing it normally. It sounds like he's saying "I think you need somethin', get yo ass out..." or something like that..

This is the perfect example of how the religious right lies about certain topics. I'm thinking you heard this from someone who is a follower of wacko James Dobson and "Focus on the Family."

The backwards message is clearly an ode to God and you would think the religious right would praise Prince for this message. However, I recall seeing a show on backwards masking in which Dobson played this part and asked, "Now, don't you think Price is calling Satan his lord?" Um, nope.

There's a free program called Audacity. You can download it and use it to play the backwards stuff and also to break up Lovesexy into individual tracks, among other things.
