Girl on Cover of Around The World in A Day? Hello everybody!
Does anyone here know who the girl w/ the Raspberry Beret on the cover of ATWIAD was/is? She looks familiar... But for all I know she is a figment of someone's imagination? *everybody needs a thrill*

I've always liked this cover... I used to stare at it for hours, trying to figure out who was who on it. Then back when they released "singles" or "45's", he would feature one of the characters on this cover on the single. I didn't know who she was then, but now I think she resembles Susannah Melvoin... imo. |

I don't know ... maybe? Did silent film star Clara Bow have a birth mark on her cheek, a la Prince and Cindy Crawford? She does in the last photo.

Thanks for those pics, it could really be 'her'.
But don't forget (something that is reported different times) that the roles of the real people on the sleeve are Around the world in day seem to be changed in a bizarre way. I mean, look at the figure in the Dr Fink outfit (it looks like Prince wearing sign of the times-like glasses), the figure wearing the cloud-outfit has the face of Brownmark, and who is the whitefaced figure holding the tamborine? Maybe the inspiration for the girl on the cover is indeed Clara bow, but looking at her face i think she resembles Wendy or Susannah also.

i mena damn, its eerie! what? do you mean the raspberry beret video set/costumes? or do you mean that realistic-looking watercolor painting that was almost gonna be the ATWIAD cover?

The baby is one of the creepiest things I've seen on any album cover.

As is my understanding, the characters on the cover aren't literal drawings of any of the band members, more amalgamations of them. I'd say the girl probably based on an image of Clara Bow given she is mentioned in the lyrics to 'Condition Of The Heart'.

Heard that! I remember staring at the Why Can't We Be Friends? back of the cover art from WAR, for aloooong time! It had thousands of cartoon people on the back, like at a concert, doing all kinds of different things. |

I believe Clara Bow is featured as a mixture of her and Wendy on the cover (Woman in the bathing suit/wrap get-up).

(It could be the City, Country, City album cover though)

That is correct. That's the "Clara Bow" reference, not the girl with the Raspberry beret. She's there to represent just that, the song Raspberry Beret. I believe every song is represented in this album cover. I started a thread on this album cover about a year and a half ago and it got all kinds of responses. We found a lot, and I mean A LOT of things in the cover. Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see
I can be in a park, or flying in the…in the deep sea I wish u’d hold my hand; then everything could b There’s nothing strange, we’re not deranged We only want everyday 2 b a Cosmic Day

Hallo again everyone!
OMG on the CLARA BOW observation... I think you're probably right! As a teenager I remember seeing lots of old Hollywood photos of her and always thought she was super glamorous/cute. Despite the lyric I hadn't really made the connection, though. They rather DO look similar- add a Raspberry Beret etc. Thanks so much everyone! Any other thoughts/ideas on this cover to throw out?
