What do you think would be Prince's reaction to... ...fans playing bootlegs of his unrelease material around him?
Say you work in the stereo section of Best Buy or something, and Prince walks into the store, and you pop in one of The Work CDs and blast it up loud for the whole store to hear.

i'm sure he's used to it. he knows his hardcore fans are well acquainted with his bootleggage. on certain levels he's appeared fine with that knowledge in the past.

He'd go across the street to Circuit City and drop a million dollars, then come back and tell you boss what he just did, and why.

they just opened up a new one in my city a month ago. i prefer them over Best Bastards any day of the week. Much better customer service! Best Bastards makes you weight half an hour just to get a price or answer a simple question

Here's a bit more interesting scenario that I've often wondered about:
What if a band released a cd of covers of unreleased songs?

I seem to remember this happening somewhere and he got the person working there to give it to him. like 'this is stolen property, give it back'. I could be completely making it up though. Anyone back me up?

I haven't got a clue...
either he'd let it go cuz he's used to it or he'd take action... I don't know him that well, so I'm basically clueless. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I always wondered what Mani did with hers when they got married. She used to post on some fan site/message board (not here or HQ) way back in the day and there are posts of her asking whether the shows were bootlegged after the concerts...
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

in general I don't think he'd be as upset as we think he might be...
but if someone were to go out of their way as in the example...well then he might feel compelled to go take it just to not be shown up or something. "not a fan" yeah...ok
