Diddy samples erotic city in "last night" remix

So I just heard this.... my ? is did diddy actually have to get permission from PRINCE to sample this track?

How does it work.. or does WB grant the use of it..

Actually, I always thought this song sounded like "When Doves Cry". shrug

But someone else said on another thread that it reminded them of "Erotic City" too.
