Face Down\I wish U heaven Videos Is it just me or is these two of the coolest video's P's ever done? (I'll admit, both of these videos are brand new 2 me which might speak for my enthusiasm, but I always loved the songs anyway) Two different eras. Before "Death" and After. I don't know if he was behind the artistic direction of these videos, but I'm drawn 2 believe he orchestrated the face down vid at least. He's just 'throwing' it in WB's face {as in the lyrics}, sitting at the wake of his former identity and talking to his supposed therapist. And it has this effortless cool quality about it, that I honestly don't always feel with 90's Prince. The Heaven vid, however is so 'euphoric' it just floats and changes, but still keeps the same attitude. It has this sense of relaxed urgency (as does the song) that I always apreicated about his latter work with the revolution. [I know lovesexy was post-revolution, but I still include it sonically-as i do SOTT] These travelling images that all conect to the rhythm and the lyrics of the track, just do it for me. But like I said these are new videos to me, and I was just wondering if anybody felt the same way. I mean, it's not like I can ask my "everyday" friends. They always end up threatened somehow.

I love the song Face Down, but I thought the theatrics were a bit too much!

That's the thing that does it for me. This song (and video) walks a tightrope of conryness and sarcastic cool [which is a corageous risk 2 take, unless said artist is unaware]. But when i allow myself to accept 'his' idea of cool, it's challanging and accessable at the same time- which I think is Prince at his best. But that easy for a Prince fan 2 say I guess. Plus: the 90's, as opposed 2 the 80's, represent my childhood anyway. He didn't do the best job, but in retrospect I'd say he did a pretty good job adapting 2 the times(black album rap-bashing aside). He picked up a shit load of new fans as ..and he still continues 2.
