Its ironic that I ask this, considering what my handle is on this forum, but where can I hear the real version of "Computer Blue?" I own the Purple Rain album, but isn't the original track 14+ min? I need to hear this. Doesn't it have the hallway speech? Someone enlighten me.

Well The Work Vol. 1 Enhanced Edition has the track in question, in fact you'll find four versions on various volumes.

meh i never got into the hallway speech... but the extend normal part is worth finding

hmmmm.. i never heard of this extended version until now- but I do like the version thats on the PR album.

can someone let me in on this? What is the speach, where is it from, what is it about, etc?

Computer Blue (album version) had always been one of my FAVORITE Prince jams of all time, but then when I heard the hallway version, I went outta my frickin' mind with joy! This song is beyond extraordinary...you MUST hear it.

Me too...always LOVED the album version, but when I heard that long version it made me even more of a fan of the song AND Prince.
In fact, the 1st time I heard this version was probably around 94/95 I was actually on the outs as a Prince fan. I HATED the Symbol album (still not crazy over it) and the whole name change thing kinda threw me to the point that I took a break from Prince's music. But a buddy of mine made me a tape of some Gold Experince songs (before they were out) and tacked on the long version of CB. All I can say is that I wore that tape OUT. Needless to say it brought me back to the guys tunes.

Positivly electrifying...that long version is. I was holding out hope that he was gonna include it on the Ultimate Prince collection...but that proved useless.

ahh...maybe someday we'll hear and "offical" version.
