People keep saying this but I think it's doubtful. I've heard Nicole say she's actually her godmother. If Sheila was her aunt, wouldn't that mean that one of her brothers would have allowed Lionel and his wife to adopt her??? As close as the Escovedo clan is, I don't see THAT happening. Besides she denied that Peter Michael Escovedo is her father in an issue of Jane magazine. When Nicole was on Oprah with Lionel, they both said that he first saw Nicole running around backstage at a Purple Rain concert. But they didn't discuss who her birth parents were. So I doubt that she's REALLY her aunt, I think it's more like when you call a close family friend "Aunt" or "Uncle" out of respect or whatever, IMO.

Oh, BTW, does anyone remember that video for Lionel Richie's "Running with the Night" featuring Sheila E???? Man, oh man! I just watched it on YouTube and boy that was some funny shit. The video was choreographed by Michael Peters who did most of Michael Jackson's early vids, Beat It, Thriller, he's also the main dancer in this video. Watching Lionel's video you can see all the same moves from Thriller, it's HILARIOUS!!! It's like a cross between Thriller, West Side Story, and Wedding Crashers. LOL!!!! Plus there's Lynn Whitfield and Michael Delorenzon (New York Undercover) he was also in Beat It, that dude has been around FOREVER! Anyway, I digress, if you wanna see Sheila in a poufy ass bridesmade dress check it out.

Along with this picture, and ones I have seen in 2006, she is wearing a wedding ring. She must have been married at some time.

Apparently Prince met Sheila at one of dad John Nelson's gigs. This was pre-Purple Rain. Prince dug her skills and worked with her as soon as they could hook up again. Their first record together was Erotic City.

From what I understand, Sheila is not into guys.
