That Song, Wasted Kisses, Come On, and Mad Sex are all songs I just love, making NPS a very underrated album to me. Course, it could have done without a few others. I used 2 think N.P.S was a poor album... That & Emncipation compared to the rest but its very funky, The One is an excellent track. All this talk of New Power Soul reminds me of Wembley Arena 98' - Got 2 say that was good but I'm glad that era has finished... Come on down John Blackwell instead of (boring) Kirk J. Such a beautiful, dreamy song. I'll never forget seeing Prince walk onto the stage at Wembley Arena, in 98, with the instrumental version playing. Talk about goosebumps! Even the remix is cool. | |

Hey I like the remix, too.
But would have loved it if he had done a version based on strings - violins, cellos and all. It would sound incredible because of the harmonies. Maybe we should call C.F. to arrange this one. | |

AGOTAJONESMARTHA - I mentioned Clare Fischer on another thread the other day. Don't you just LOVE his contribution top Prince's songs???! Such passion, but never overwhelming. Imagine listening to 'Crystal Ball' or '3 Chains O' Gold' without the strings. I'd love to be there when he receives the DAT tape and has to decide on what to do with them | |

I have been to (only) 10 prince concerts but his performance of 'The One' at Wembley in 1998 was the all time highlight for me. It was mindblowing live, and would love to hear it at the upcoming concerts.

ONENITEALONE I feel your love for what this man's doing.
He's added an extra twist to some of our favorite songs... and I read that Prince doesn't make any "prescriptions"- he just hands him a tape and allows him to add his thoughts. Prince went off-stage for a costume change ehilst The NPG did their thang. Then all this dry ice appeared and Prince S-L-O-W-L-Y emerged through the mist, as lasers flashed behind him. It was spine-tibgling stuff... | |

Suddenly - a trumpet blows from the back and Prince, like the Pied Piper, leads The NPG through the crowd, RIGHT past me! He was so close I managed to touch his shoulder!
And, by God, he looked funky as HELL that night. Best night of the week by far. | |
