As much as I adore Hendrix and P as guitarists, this topic has been beat to death, man. Cuz all you're going to get in THIS forum is "Prince isn't influenced by Hendrix at all!" type of shit. Or the favorite "Prince is waaaay more influenced by Santana!". Truth is, any one of P's solo's that's in a rock format is inspired by Jimi. It's in Prince's blood. Period. Folks must understand that Santana was/is influenced by Jimi as well. He has stated this several times. So Prince, like Ernie Isley and Eddie Hazel (listen to Maggot Brain) were all influenced greatly by Hendrix and Santana. But staying directly on target dealing with this thread, Jimi's vibe is going to always be all over P's playing , largely cuz Prince CHOOSES it to be. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

yeah you are right thats in his blood
jimi, eddie h ,ernie ,prince they all have some simularities in phrasing, eric clapton tried to achive jimi's sound but it never worked in eric's place. maybe those mentioned above have natural sence for improvisation.

Actually, up until recently I think there a very few solos that I hear Jimi, I think he has enough of his own sound going on to be unique, but for sake of keeping the thread on track, I won't go in to that
So, there is one you missed though, which is pure Jimi start to finish - HABIBI!! Though I think it's a cover anyway....
