The Truth - contains a few career highlights. This album really stands out amongst his back catalogue to me as being one of his most experimental and sincere cuts to date.
Circle of Amour simply has the prettiest melody I've ever heard, Fascination has a wonderful hypnotic charm, despite the lame MJ dig and Don't Play Me is another high point. I don't understand why he performs The Other Side Of The Pillow when it is one of the weaker tracks on an album with generally high standards. What does everyone else think? I think The Truth is a masterpiece, seriously. I heard Don't Play Me 4 the first time this summer @ the Celebration,I was taken. Dionne is the BEST...I even like Man in the Uniform,I dig Animal Kingdom 2,I like what he's saying. She stole my medallion n she called me a BITCH!!!

I agree - this album is one of his best. I love the 'sound' he uses in Animal Kingdom - reminds me of 'I am the Walrus' by the beatles.
The Truth and Don't Play Me are cool. What a great disc to be Welcomed to the Dawn to!! I think this and 'Come' really stand out, creatively over the past few years. *Om*

I love "The Truth'' for many reasons.
I also agree with you on "The Other Side of the Pillow''. Of all the songs, that was about the weakest to me. But you know Prince, he can make the weaker ones sound like the bomb when he takes it live in concert.

Fantastic album. I only wish this had been more readily available to the general public - not many are going to be willing and able to buy the CB.
"Circle Of Amour" is superb. A real dreamy, relaxing and pretty song. The album as a whole is eveything ONA should have been. Simple, precise, wonderful. Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.

I think it's great that Prince takes risks like this. I love "Don't Play Me."

This album is clearly one of his best.
Particularly, in comparison to stuff like 'Diamonds and Pearls' and ''. No question. [This message was edited Tue Sep 17 13:14:42 PDT 2002 by violator]

The Truth needs to be released as one CD. I donated a copy of it to my library, making a cover for it and calling it "The Truth (the acoustic album) by " and they catalogued it that way and people have been checking it out ever since. It's definitely an album that needs to be heard. You want people to hear Prince, donate some CDs.
