Wow.....I just had a major flashback to 1987. How great it was to be a fan that year.....

Prince SIGN O' THE TIMES: Loved it.....Wore out my cassette within 8 months then bought the CD. Plus I thought it was so great that my other favorite artist (Sheena Easton) appeared on the album and had her own "Eternity" that same year. Shut up already.....Damn!

Sheila E. SHEILA E.: What a varied and satisfiying album this is. It's her best album in my opinion "Koo Koo" was my fave track.

Wendy & Lisa WENDY & LISA: What a total surprise it was to me to discover they had this kind of sophisticated pop in them. Up until I heard this album I thought W&L were just backing musicians and back-up singers. What a total surprise it was to hear how utterly talented they were as song-writers and multi-instrumentalists. This album is pop, jazz, r&b, new age, dance; all in one.

Deborah Allen "Telepathy". I was in shock to learn this country-pop singer had just recorded a song written by Joey Coco. I rushed out to buy the cassette and even though there is only one Prince track, the rest of it is really good 80's pop.

Sheena Easton NO SOUND BUT A HEART: I had heard so much about this album prior to it's "no show US release" in 1987 I practically felt like I could have been on EMI's marketing dept payroll. I knew that Sheena had spent over 1 1/2 years recording it with such producers and songwriters as Prince, Phil Ramone, Keith Diamond, Nick Martelli, Narada Michael Walden, etc. etc....I bought "Eternity" on 45 when it came out and was in heaven with David Leonard's unique production. It sounded like nothing else out at the time which was probably why it flopped as as single. During this time EMI merged with Manhattan and shelved the album release in the US insisting to Sheena that the project be reworked or scrapped all together. With that, Sheena was pissed in a royal way and left EMI for MCA in the blind of an eye. I obtained the CD through Japanese import at the time. Until 1999 it was only released in Canada and Japan....

Thats not true, I never hear anyone saying that and I certainly don't consider everyone over 25, and even people much older than that to be OLD! In fact, it's only people who are older who I ever hear say that stuff haha!

Prince-related, we certainly got amazing music from everyone! SOTT is my all-time favorite album, period.

But if you're an all-around music fan, it was just as good outside of the Prince camp:

In 1987,Sheila E. released her best album.Her self-titled album is her strongest,most consistent album.It's a shame this album didn't get the proper promotion and attention it deserved.Commercially,this should have been her 'Control' but I guess since she became Prince's drummer,they didn't feel the need to aggressively promote it
