You are not alone in expressing love 4 this track I always thought it was one of the things that stands as a true testament 2 Prince's mastery as a musician...everything is played by hime except 4 the saxophone.

If I had 2 show someone why i love Prince so much a digitally remastered version of ONE would be one of the things that I play!

I seriously love the entire album (and I am normally rather picky (and his albums have a certain "amplitude" of quality).
But I do agree one has a great feel, is a fantastic opener and foreshadow of things to come (on this album) and bass and drums are top-notch. i use this to fool all the "Prince an Entertainer is like Madonna/MJ"-peeps and I just say "well, the drummer is the bomb ain't he" and then they agree and then I add "the bassist is cool, too" and then they correct me saying that it's not cool, it's awesome but it'S only after the praisign of the keys that I explain to them who is playing what on that album (and Eric always gets his praise too, of course, that funky mo'fo')
