Other people complain about anything that's not rock & guitar-laden . Then there are the people who trash NEWS and Kamasutra and call them boring...

My point is, we say that Prince doesn't/shouldn't worry about charting. But I think everybody wants to be wanted, no matter how great they are- esp. if they KNOW they're better than the crap that's on the radio.

Resorting to playing Purple Rain at every event....

In all honesty, there were a couple of tiny nit-picks I had early on in my journey that kinda turned me off a little bit.
* when he appeared topless or [see the first minute of 'When Doves Cry']. I dunno... I was never really into guys cuz they're topless or w/e... this, of course, I got used to pretty quick. I really got into his CB/DN performance in "Purple Rain".
* his cursing, I had quite a bit of problem with. Threw me for a loop the first time I heard P. Control, but the song was so much fun that I couldn't stay away. I was always for him expressing himself however he saw fit, it's his right as an artist and I respect that. Always have.
* his explicit lyrics/sexual content. I've come a long way since the start of my journey. Darling Nikki was my very first obstacle (I didn't mind Little Red Corvette at all... that was poetry) becuz he came right out and said what he meant. I'm crazy about the song now. I even went as far to wonder if it was about Apollonia or a girl he met named Nikki who he cheated on his g/f with to get back at her. At present, Endorphinmachine is the only hurdle I've left to clear completely. I find the song monotonous at first, but it started growing on me cuz I kept listening 2 it so the flow of TGE isn't interrupted. It's only when I completely open myself up to it that it rubs me the wrong way. I've got a little ways to go yet, but the fact I like it more now than I did at first says a lot.

These were three turn-offs that I eventually got used to and don't really mind anymore.

And yet I'm still here. So there you go. There's nothing else Prince can do that would make me turn tail and run away. I'm loyal 2 him and bound 2 him 4ever, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, with my theory, it could really go either way. The ending splits up the possibilities. The angry part convinces me its about Apollonia (in the movie), but the backwards tape portion makes it sound like he's sorry 4 cheating on his g/f out of spite.

Yeah and in the original script, The Kid was supposed to be a drug addict... I think that would have been a little overkill, considering what he goes thru in the movie.
