Am I the only one...

... who always cracks a smile and/or starts laughing hysterically while watching the video 4 'Black Sweat'?

I seriously doubt I am... but it was so funny earlier. I was thinking about some stuff and I got the song in my head. Since I watched the video last night, I kept seeing his various facial expressions... and I just start laugh hysterically

I actually saw the video b4 I got the album... the first time I heard the song was while watching the video.

It just cracks me up.
It starts out with him shaking his head... and when his "girlfriend" really starts getting down with her bad-self, he gets all weirded out. Absolutely love it.

Probably the one thing that makes me smile the most is when he starts saying "working up a black sweat" b4 actually singing, and his eyes are casting that "come hither" look...

I think that was the first time he made me REALLY smile in quite a while. But then again, the album 3121 always puts a smile on my face with tracks like Incense & Candles, Love and Lolita... especially Love, though.

Then I watched Te Amo Corazon @ the Brits... his mystifying gaze in that performance always makes me smile.

But in the video, he makes me smile and laugh hysterically...

No your not the only one. That video is funny and it was meant to be. That video has got sarcasm and slapstick all over it, it's always nice to see his comic side come out. In fact I like him much better cracking jokes that when he's preaching about JW and stuff. So I totally agree with you it's damn funny! smile

I definitely love seeing his comic side. It makes him seem a bit more... human, I guess you could say. There's always the idea in the back of my head that I think he's some sort of God...

yesterday I saw his very first interview. It was on MTV and took place in 1985... he was cracking jokes the whole time... He's always so serious, so it's good to see him crack a smile or... in the case of the video, for me to crack a smile and laugh to the point that's its nearly impossible 2 stop.

Hey DreamPopRoyalty I thing you stated your kinda new to the whole Prince experience. Is that true? No big deal either way this is a great site to discuss the subtle nuances of the purple midget I mean the gifted and unique musician. The point I am trying to get at that after reading twenty years of articles on this guy most people that know him personally offstage claim he has one the best and most developed sense of humour they know. Accoding to them he constantly pulling pranks and cracking jokes. The super serious side rarely comes out to them from what I read. The preaching I believe is 4 the masses at large. Anyways good thread wink

thanx.

I've been here 4 a little over 2 months... that's how long I've been on this journey. I think that in the very beginning, when I first joined Housequake, I started watching interviews... and it blew my mind that he's a completely diff. person onstage & offstage. I guess after somewhat engrossing myself in the 4 albums I have, I kinda started forgetting that. It was very refreshing.

Over the past week, I've seen him from pretty much every other angle. (as a friend thru TGE, and he also tempts me to fall in love with him thru Te Amo Corazon). Makes me kinda wish he'd done some interviews last year. Maybe I should check out some interviews from shortly after his "emancipation"... but that's really interesting how his friends apparently don't see his serious side much.

That's why I heart this site, I learn something new about him and/or his music every day.

He can be hilarious. I think his only problem is the public at large never knows when he's joking. His early PR screwed that up. I think he should go on a good comedy or two on TV. Could you totally see him and Jerome on an episode of Boston Legal? Prince, Shatner and Spader...the Neilson boxes may just blow up! I think there may be rolling blackouts as TIVO and DVRs everywhere click on.
lol cool

I love this video, but sorry I didn't double-over or anything like that. I did though laugh to an extent when I first saw the "Face Down" vid. Golly! Prince; don't even try! C'mon, with the hand movements, and the little Prince body--its just ehh!!! lol

Are u talking about the interview when they ask him about Andre Cymone and he starts telling them how him and Andre had got back on good terms, and then he started talking 2 the camera and giving them those eyez eek and saying all of this stupid shit that was hilarious! falloff and i remeber every word 2 but don't feel like writing it. razz

Yeah, that's the one. They just posted it on HQ, so I figured that I'd check it out... supposedly his very first interview... that blows me away. He kept cracking jokes throughout that whole thing... I've never seen him joke more than a couple of times in the later interviews. He's so diff. now, but I like the way he is now... love the way he is now. A bit more laid-back and with a gentle grin.

But I don't think he really went on any one on one interviews until his years as prince. I remember seeing one from 2003 when he was on an Australian morning show and when he was on his own 1-on-1 with the interviewer... that still blows my mind cuz he's a completely diff. person. He seems a little nervous in front of the cameras... it was on YouTube and taken off so quickly that I only saw it once (this was when I was just starting on this path)... I remember him saying "I hear music all the time. When I watch TV, I hear music and my ears perk up"... haha

My ears tend 2 do that when I hear one of his songs that I feel is going to be REALLY good. The first time I heard "Gold" when I saw L4OA on HQ... I won't forget that. And I think my ears perked 4 "Money Don't Matter 2night".

I don't lmao but the stare he does when Celestina screams is really cute. You don't see that kind of emotion in male artists these days very often.

I'm pretty sure he did the "come hither" to me at the 31st concert, but I couldn't get through the crowd. lol
