Purple Rain a Country Song It really didnt hit me till today...
that purple rain the song is very countryish. its identical to a country blues chord progression... even the way he sings it is kinda countryish... probably old news but kinda fascinated me I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

It is indeed Bob seger influenced. I think either Bobby Z or Dr.Fink came up with the idea that it would be cool if he wrote a song in that kind of style. You can read it up in DMSR, I guess. A Purple Rain version in a country style exist (Willie Nelson like)
