Purple Rain a Country Song

It really didnt hit me till today...
that purple rain the song is very countryish.
its identical to a country blues chord progression...
even the way he sings it is kinda countryish...
probably old news
but kinda fascinated me

that would explain alot... i pulled out some bob seger songs like night moves...
and yah i think he was the root of the influence

It is indeed Bob seger influenced. I think either Bobby Z or Dr.Fink came up with the idea that it would be cool if he wrote a song in that kind of style. You can read it up in DMSR, I guess.

(Btw. another punk version by Rumble on the Beach (or so) does exist too)

I love Bob Seger's style ... coming from Detroit, you heard/hear his music a lot.
