State of divorce? Maybe this has been discussed already - if so, forgive me.
I was thinking about the good old days when Prince LIVED in Mpls...and the Friday night Paisley parties, etc. But now he doesn't even have a house here...and Paisley is quiet at best. I always wondered why he demolished his house...and at first assumed he wanted something new and doesn't want someone to live in a house that he lived in (recall he demolished his parents' house as well). But now...considering the divorce that is under way...does anyone think the demolishing of the house was due to the divorce? And maybe...when the divorce is final...that he might build a new house and come back home? One can hope...

What house? Did he just get rid of a house recently? I know of the one from years ago but I didn't know of a house that he and Mani had except the one in Canada.

The house in question is the one in Chanhassen that he built when he and Susannah were engaged. He tore it down over a year ago -- before the divorce papers were filed. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

He still has a house here. He also has family members here that he could stay with. Plus, he can stay at Paisley Park.

P lives in La La Land. He doesn't need a house "I don't make the rules. I just play"

Minnesota is a community property state. Unless he had a prenup agreement she gets half of everything.
He demolished the house in 2003, isn't that where hid Dad lived until he died? [Edited 4/11/07 10:59am]

Prince, build a house in Detroit! We have wonderful suburbs. Just ask Eminem, Kid Rock, or Aretha Franklin. I'm sure they'll be glad to hip you to the prime real estate.

In 2003 he demolished his Dad's house on Lake Riley, the Purple House.
In 2005 he demolished the Galpin Rd. House. Both are in Chanhassen. I see what you mean by the house being demolished in 2005 because of a pending separation. [Edited 4/11/07 12:59pm]

It is kind of interesting that this topic came up again. San Jose News just did an interview with Mani and it is date 4/08/07. Mani of course was talking about her company and she mentioned that she wished that everyone would stop mentioning Prince when it came to her businesses because she succeeded on her own. She also mentioned that she still lives in MN parttime. So I wonder if the house is still standing and if she did in fact get his house in MN if she is still living in MN part time not that she couldn't have her own place. I could copy and paste the article if anyone wants to see it. The arthor also mentioned that she was not nasty about anything when referring to Prince. I paraphrased some of this.

Well I'll give her props for running her business well. I have to admit, I took a good look at her Altru products and I am impressed. I really like the details in the design. I'm tempted. However, let's keep it real, unless she financed the whole thing, I don't see how she could have started it all without Prince's money. Furthermore, because she is Prince's wife, why else would she be at at red carpet events and featured in various magazines (especially the ones where she's talking about her expensive suits). This business model Mani is doing, selling products for charity is nothing new but the only reason we care is about she is Prince's wife. As a matter-a-fact i remember a 2004 interview where Prince mentioned that she was going to start selling incense and candles and stuff.

Here is a copy of the artical. Sorry that it's so long but I thought everyone would like to read it if you haven't already.
Ask Donna: Testolini's sense of charity MANUELA TESTOLINI INVESTS GLAMOUR IN AROMATIC GOODS THAT PUT PRINCIPLES IN A GLITZIER LIGHT By Donna Kato Article Launched: 04/08/2007 01:44:02 AM PDT Click photo to enlarge Manuela Testolini «1»Sitting at an outdoor table at Santana Row's Left Bank restaurant, Manuela Testolini looks more approachable than in photographs. She's on a cell phone, her tousled Etch-A-Sketch curls falling over her hand and mobile. In the last photo I saw of her, she was on a red carpet in a white gown, hair flat-ironed straight. On this day, she's wearing jeans and Gucci sunglasses for a late lunch. She looks Hollywood glam, but not so much that she doesn't blend into the scene at the tony shopping area. Testolini was in San Jose recently for a personal appearance at Nordstrom Valley Fair to promote her Altru luxury candles and home fragrances, launched last October. The artisanal products have been featured in practically every women's magazine since then, including Vogue, Better Homes & Garden, InStyle and Elle - often with a footnote about celebrity fans like Kate Bosworth. The candles, fragrance oils and incense are beautifully packaged and smell divine - with a price tag to match. "The idea is to have something that is not granola," says Testolini, 30, who calls the products "deliberately organic." Those who buy the $55 candles and $65 fragrance oils should know Testolini is founder of Gamillah, a company that specializes in developing brands with charity and social consciousness in mind. More than half the proceeds from the sales of Altru products benefit In A Perfect World Foundation - her charitable organization that helps underprivileged ----- Advertisement ----- children. But there's also an elephant in the room that must be addressed: Testolini is the ex-wife of Prince. Married to the music legend in 2001, she filed for divorce last May. (The photo of her in the white gown I mention was taken with him at the 2005 Oscars.) She says she wishes he weren't mentioned so often in conjunction with her charity endeavors and business, because she has succeeded on her own. Yet she acknowledges that part of the media's interest in her is because of him. She's not testy or humorless about it, and when I mention that her ex shopped at the Atelier Aveda store across the way from our table when he was in town for a concert, she even cracks a smile. She tells me she likes Aveda's environmentally conscious products herself and adds that the company is based near Minneapolis - his hometown and where she still lives part-time when she's not in Los Angeles or traveling around the globe. "I'm a big eco-girl," says Testolini, a vegetarian whose favorite hobby is gardening and growing herbs and veggies like peppers and zucchini. She is the daughter of restaurateurs in Toronto - her father is an immigrant from Italy and her mother from Egypt. "My parents taught me to recycle, to take care of one's community and the Earth and those around you," she says. "It's ingrained in me." Her foundation, she says, was created to support and empower kids, and she wanted its mission to be as straightforward as possible. "I've been involved with charity work for eight years and navigated the landscape of philanthropies to determine what's best," she says. "That's how I came up with In A Perfect World." The foundation, which works with community-based groups, asked the question recently to children in New York shelters, "In a perfect world, what would you want?" The answers were surprisingly modest and grant-able, she says. One child wanted to go to the zoo. Another wanted a blue crayon. "He was in a domestic abuse situation and when he fled with his mother, she grabbed his crayons but missed the blue one," explains Testolini. Knowing that the Altru products are buying blue crayons and funding a trip to a zoo somehow makes the candles seem not so outrageously priced. The soy candles come in hammered copper containers, wrapped in boxes designed from fabrics that Testolini found in markets in Egypt, India and Morocco. Named Harmony, Integrity, Artistry, Remembrance, Wellness and Appreciation, the candles are infused with scents such as Oriental persimmons, Persian lilac, masala chai, Italian rosemary, wild ginger and white freesia. The fragrance oils come in hand-blown glass bottles copied from the Murano glass she discovered was designed by her Italian ancestors. The incense holder is inspired by a 14th-century document holder that she found in Cairo. So far, Altru consists of these few carefully crafted items, but Testolini says she's about to launch more, including body and bath products. One idea, she doesn't want to jinx by talking about just yet. Another idea she says will be "a mood in a box" - perhaps music, teas and candles packaged together to soothe or pamper. "I wake up excited every day because there's something new brewing in my caldron," she says. For more information and a list of Altru retailers, see www.altruby gamalliah.com.

Go away Mani! Please!
First you filled the NPGMC shop with crap - No space left for music when it's full of lilac-scented baby-gros. Now P is stalling round Vegas, waiting for the divorce to be finalised before he can tour and make serious dollars. We're bored and need new music and touring. Sign the papers and make something happen around here. If I see a thread called "Is Prince better than yo mama?", I'm blaming you.
