I find it odd that there is no outcry to lock this thread, after what happened to my thread.

I started one on the birthday of Prince's child, wondering how Prince's music and life would have been different had he survived, and I was told how terrible a person I was, and the mods locked the thread.

Yeah, I hope I go before him. He's only 9 years older than me, so it could happen easily.

i guess the mods decided to let this one stay, especially since people insist on creating threads about death of Prince. Although death its inevitable I just don't get the appeal of discussing something so sad.

Now with your thread, I just think the thread title was insensitive. I mean who's to say if Prince comes in here or not but it just didn't seem right. I could understand if you wanted to discuss how he would have been as a father, however I guess because there's a tragedy attached to it, it may be uncomfortable for some people.

I was half wondering that myself. Last night, I almost wanted to start an outcry to lock it... just because I was becoming a wreck just thinking about it. It almost makes me wish that Prince himself would post anonymously and set us straight... he probably thinks that after reading this, that we have no lives outside of his... haha

I dunno how anyone can say that "his music today is garbage, so it'd be easier to accept it"... I mean, c'mon.

3121 doesn't shine as brightly as the other albums I own... but I still listen to it occasionally.

If I can get away from the past, I'll pop it in sometime today.

To be completely honest, I will be an emotional mess when he dies. I'm not trying to be all fammy, but really, his music has had such an impact on my life. He has influenced me as a musician and a person.

However, I am thankful that his music will live on after he passes away. For me, it would be hard to listen to at first, but I'm sure I would find comfort in it after a while.

Agreed.

I'll definitely look to Purple Rain & TGE when that day comes...

I'll be a total wreck the next few times I listen to Purple Rain & Gold afterwards... yeah, like I'm not emotional enough about Gold, haha...

He's already influenced me a lot as a person, so all the better to keep enjoying the journey I'm on. And stop replying to this thread, lol

I can't believe that this topic actually came up. I've also given this thought lately, and I can't imagine losing him.....ever. He has been such a part of my life for so long. He's part of me....somehow...and he always will be..i can't explain it....i don't expect anyone to understand it....it's just there

I would listen to Lonely Christmas and cry, and I would listen to "the Ladder" and rejoice that he will have finally made that climb

The day he's lost to us here on earth will be a devistating time. I would never completely get over that loss of such a wonderful and special person. I am just so relieved to know that he's found our Lord, and he will live on eternally, making beautiful music forever
If I could be muse 2 the Pharoah......

People are so crazy. As sure as you are born you are going to die. Why is it a taboo subject? Why can't u discuss it without people being offended? If we can come on here and talk about everything pertaining to P under the sun why not death which by the way is inevitable? Do any of you have life insurance or were you too offended when the agent told you it is for your family in the event of your death? Did you say oh no please lets not talk about death? Alright then!

Yeah, I really don't want to think about it anymore. My other musical heroes are older than Prince, and I'm not worrying over their deaths.

I think people started seeing wrinkles on Prince, and suddenly realized that he was human like the rest of us. Of course, that means he won't live forever.

Well that's a little different because if you were to suddenly die you wouldn't want your family to be burdened with the expense that comes after, so even if the insurance agent startled you, it does make sense.

I guess because it's such a sad, dreary and morbid topic so I was wondering what is the appeal in talking about Prince being dead when the man is still kicking it alive. Why not deal with it when that time happens?

just some thoughts I had.

Good point.
Prince certainly wouldn't want us to waste our time with this when he's still got so much to do.

I don't really want to keep posting here, but I just find a lot I can comment on and/or agree with.

So much of what is discussed on the org is hypothetical so it is totally plausible that someone will post "How would you cope in the event of P's demise?" I don't find it offensive because its hypothetical right now but eventually it will happen unlike the " If u and P were locked in a room" or "If P was ur neighbor" threads so I don't see the problem. If people want to they can post how they would feel/cope on this thread fine but if they don't they can read it and move on but there is nothing wrong with having this discussion.

I only asked the question because of how when people die, everyone always showers then with nice thoughts that they didn't share when they were alive. I just think "Living Obituaries" are nice ways to let people know that you appreciate them while they are still here.

1 things 4 certain, and I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this... there will b plenty of fans, especially obsessive collectors who will b rubbin there hands gleefully at the sudden increase in value of the things they have accumulated.
T-shirts that rn't worn 2 promote the artist and his work NOW as intended, but rather stashed away 4 that very occasion.disbelief
My own personal collection, I will never part with, and that in itself will b a wonderful coping mechanism when/if he goes 1st. cool

Well as George Harrison said "all things must pass" We are going to be sad and deeply hurt we will probably feel the same way when a close dearly loved family member dies but we just have to carry on and keep his memory and music alive until is our time to join him upstairs.. Some people especially the media will take advantage of his death releasing memorabilia and a lot of stuff just to make few millions out of people's misery.. That is the sad part !!!!.. Well hopefully there will be Prince for more years to come so chin up !!!!!
