the song is hated by many fans and critics but i don't understand why. it's not an excellent track but its good so pless tell me.... why does everybody hate it so much?

It's my favorite track on 3121. It's also part of the handful of songs I've heard b4 getting it (and behind my reasoning 4 getting it: "I'm familiar with a bunch of the songs already and I like them, so it seems like a safe bet")

I heard Lolita, Satisfied, Get on the Boat, Fury, Beautiful Loved & Blessed, Te Amo Corazon and Black Sweat (in that order) b4 getting the album.

The performance on the Brit Awards was the first time I heard the song. The atmosphere he set up 4 it completely complimented the song and since I've been a fan of it.
And once or twice, I felt a personal connection to Prince thru the song. I feel like I could sing those same words to him. And my fav. thing to say about it is "it takes his mystifying presence and converts it into sound waves".
It's got a lot of heart.

I suppose people don't like it because it's nothing extraordinary... I feel like it is to me, though.

I think it's one of his best songs, EVER!

It's very beautiful, and has a timeless sound to it. The gorgeous video just adds to the whole package. I was disappointed that he didn't have anything else like it on 3121.

I heard it performed live at the Brits b4, so I can be a bit of a critic of it at times like... I wish he had done this there... Like added more flutes and such...

But somehow, it just works as a steady, slow progression, adding instruments little by little with each verse. It is timeless, completely diff. from anything else on the album. I wish the other songs were just as heartfelt and beautiful, but it's good to have variety too.

And I love the video 2... sometimes I like to watch it to give myself a visual.

I love different songs for different reasons.

A very desirable quality in Prince's songs, I've come to find thru my journey their his work, is for him to make a connection with me, either thru my heart or soul. I not only see his perspective, but he helps draw out my own into the picture, so the song becomes as much a part of me as it's a part of him. And I almost feel like the song's directed towards me.

I love this song cuz it's one of those special cases. That's the same reason why I love Gold and Dolphin (I've come to realize this weekend) as much as I do.

And there's the fact that in the Brit awards, his eyes glow when he sings it and it gives his mystifying presence a more physical & tangible form that can be enjoyed even w/o a visual.

As a matter of fact, my name in spanish is "El Illustratoro".
It's a title given to some one who "tienes un lapiz muy grande" & enjoys using it "con mucho gusto".

i wouldn't say i HATE this song. it's unspectacular. so much so that some of the complexity and layering people have alluded to are missed because when u put on the album, unless you plan to listen to ALL of it, it is sooooo skippable. i like the fact that it isn't one of his "oversung", slow burning, one-word love ballads. he shows his diversity in the arrangement and places it a category all its own. but it does absolutely nothing for me. didn't see the vid, maybe that would help

Entertainment Weekly called it boring and uncreative.

I think that when he releases a "single" on the net. If it's not mind blowing it gets a lot of flack. When I first heard Te Amo as being the lead single from 3121, I thought it was boring. I even dubbed it Te Amo Corozyawn! I didn't excite me for the new album at all.

Of course when I got 3121, it fit perfectly, and I had no issue with it.

The timing of the release as a single is what put me off to this song intially.
Coming off of Musicology, I was ready to hear some rock or funk song, instead getting yet another sugary love ballad released as the single...Dude, unless
the ballad is ON POINT, it's gonna generate ZERO talk....

Me and TAC still haven't made up...we still mad at each other.
But, I don't hate it.
