MikeMatronik WASN'T talking about Prince's vault neutral

He meant downloading leaked albums weeks before the date of release nod He's an expert but sees no evil because later he'll buy the real thing nod

Whenever I put on a "bootleg" copy of Prince's music,
I only pretend that I'm listening to it.

I'm sorry. If Prince had another search for fans who have his bootlegs, I would be arrested and probably be in the joint for life and would do my time with a smile on my face! LOL!
lol lol

eek ...and you call yourself a Prince fan disbelief

I don't feel right in listening to unreleased stuff.

I use to feel like you...then I woke up! Prince wasn't releasing as much stuff and I needed a fix. Yes, I went underground to get my bootlegs, as others have. I confess to this, however, now that I know that I have a problem, other Prince Bootleggers, such as myself, can get free of this addiction. As we work together, we can.....giggle Stop buying...giggle hah! ah, forget it!

Shoot, it is Prince's own fault if he is going to make great music and decide not to release it or make music that is out of this world! Even some versions of his originals will just blow you away. It's Prince's fault!

Sorry, I know, I am blaming the victim for my crimes... disbelief

I know there are a few other serious collectors here. I'm not interested in trading, but what "uber rare" recordings do you still hold that you have never been in general circluation?

I only have three left, and they are going nowhere, so don't ask for a copy. lol

seriously.

i've been saying for years that i'd buy legitimate remastered versions of ALL of his albums, but neither wb or prince will see a penny if they are censored/edited.

the only case that I know that prince censored songs was in the releases of Chocolate Invasion and slaughterhouse

In my experience it's a waste of time even asking, 9/10 times folks are bullshitting. One thing you can say about T. - he always backed up his shit.

While I was running Paisley Park Records we captained a major investigation, along with the R.I.A.A. and the F.B.I., into the black market CD’s that were showing up all over the U.S. and Europe. No legal action resulted, other than to confiscate illegal product from dealers. The proliferation of bootlegged material suggested someone who had regular access to the tape vault and suspicion was directed towards several Paisley Park associates and employees. But because Prince himself was so generous (and careless) with cassettes of his unissued material, it was impossible to legally prove guilt in any one direction.

Very interesting comment. Possibly why new bootleg material has become scarce.

that could be true. but if songs aren't making it on "newpower soul" or the npgmc, then they probably are not worth hearing.

thankfully most of the stuff that leaked was before things turned south.

And turned south it certainly has, as someone said to me in email...the fragmentation of the Prince community has escalated due to the internet and the "freebie" brigade.

Old school fans have moved on, many of the long time followers just don't care anymore and have sold up, alt.music.prince is all but dead...Housequakr and Prince.org is going the same way.

Sad times indeed.
