i think we should distinguish btwn love ballads vs. songs that are slow vs. "mid-tempo" trax. to me TGRES falls into this latter category and Gold and Sweet Baby, Money Don't Matter are examples of "slow songs" that could be considered "ballads" but aren't love ballads. Power ballads tend to crescendo vocally, and Prince rarely does that, unless you consider the screams in The Dance as "crescendo". Further still would be his "spiritual ballads" like Still Would Stand All Time, The Cross, Power Fantastic, etc. So here are my fave "love ballads" (in no particular order)
