I didn't "cry" but I did feel sorry for Prince after seeing the second disc to the dvd. Cuz I'd uderstood that the movie was a story of his life.

absolutely.

Nearly every time I watched it (6) over the week I rented it from Blockbuster.

"The Beautiful Ones" got to me the last 2 times... just a beautiful/passionate performance.

But the song, "Purple Rain", forget it. It's such a beautiful song that whenever I watch him sing it, I got all teary-eyed.
Not quite the first time he had made me cry but definitely among the most memorable times he had.

I can't wait to see it again, but since I watched it 6x in one week (the first time was my first time seeing the movie thru), I'll need a break from it.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I relate to "The Beautiful Ones" too. I watched it with my boyfriend, who hadn't see it, and when the song came on, I said "now watch Prince throw a fit." I relate to that man and the emotions he expresses in his music so much, even though I haven't had the same experiences. I don't get that movies. The acting seems mediocre, but somehow Prince's music and his presence make the movie so applealing.

Heh, I know the acting's bad... but so what?

Great music.
Great performances.
and the man speaks, not just sings...

I doubt there'll be a time when PR doesnt make me cry when I watch the film. It doesn't get to me the same way when I don't have a visual.

I never cried but I was in awe and I still am at how P took things from his real life and mixed them with his fantasies and brought it across so well. P not only took Appolonia into his basement world full of his equpment, paintings and his mama's preserves but he took all of America into his private life his private thoughts. He showed us who he was. It was like it became cool to be from a dysfunctional family, dress different, wear makeup, curl ur hair, and throw tantrums on stage all because Prince said so. That is what chokes me up the most. Prince created magic with that album, movie and tour.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

After watching the Superbowl and he sang Purple Rain I cried. But I wonder does Prince after a million times singing that song does he remember it is a part of his life and does it choke him up to this day??

I wonder that myself.

And yeah, about the previous comment by adorable, my dad feels the same way about the movie. He said that there was nothing like it at the time and it really showed what he was like. Not to mention it had great music. My dad had me see the movie when it was already half over on VH1 a couple of years ago (ive told this story so many times bored ) Anyway, that was his answer when I asked him why. It doesn't seem that he really dove into Prince beyond the movie or its soundtrack... but it appears that he likes the fact I'm taking such an inititive to know Prince...

I'm on the edge of tears sometimes when I watch that part of the movie where he has that emotional breakdown and finds his father's sheet music. Everyone can claim his acting was bad in the movie, but in that scene, it felt very real.

Thinking about the performance in the end, I got speechless, almost on the edge of tears when I hear him play Lisa & Wendy's tape and also on the piano before the big show. It's so beautiful when he plays it on piano. In fact I felt the same way when he played it for Oprah that one time.
Gold is my favorite Prince song, but PR is a close second because its probably the greatest thing he's ever done... and he always finds a way to make it sound beautiful like the very first time.
