Prince Symbol guitar

I am sure that this has come up before.....but,

Anyone know of anyplace that sells this item?

I remember seeing a Gold one at a collectible store in Vegas, but they wanted something like 15k for it.

TIA
Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away
and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

As far as I know they are custom made. If u would like to have one: check 4 guitar builders on the net.

Good luck.

Jerry Auerswald made the original. I'm sure he'd make one for you, but I'm also sure it'd be rather expensive smile But if you are keen you should get in touch with him.

Personally I think the symbol guitars are pretty ugly and sound awful. It's all just for stagecraft, it isn't the sort of instrument you'd actually choose to play in the studio or messing about writing songs.

I don't think Jerry could, even if you paid him. I'm not 100% but I think there are copyright implications.
Don't agree it sounds awful, it has been tailor made, not just looks, but the sound also. If it sounded awful, Prince wouldn't touch it.

I think the cloud guitar is the quintessential Prince guitar.
I've wanted one since I was a boy.
One day I will make one.

I once asked him about it, and he said he could. There were some legal questions over who owned the design of the guita of course, I don't remember how that was resolved.

I don't agree.

Like I say, it is just stagecraft. Prince uses it on stage because it looks cool, but there's no way he'd sit down at home and play it when there are proper guitars lying about - he's a musician first and foremost. Personally I think the guitar is a bit of a monstrosity, a real eyesore - it can't possibly sound good being that shape. When Prince breaks out the symbol guitar on stage it is often heavily processed so it's hard to tell... but on the occasions when we've heard it clean, it sounded bad to my ears. Merely my opinion of course.
