I watched the superbowl ONLY for the half time show.

I thought it was a kick ass of a performance and enjoyed every second of it.

Not even the rain could stop our Purple Wonder.

It was an average performance for Prince but a standout performance for the Superbowl halftime show.

YES nod

I watched the first half of the Super Bowl just to see his performance. I am sure he feel quite a high singing Purple Rain in the Rain.

Just watched it again yesterday, and here is my take on the Superbowl performance:

It was a GREAT halftime show, maybe the best ever. It was a jaw dropping perfomance for the general public, the masses, and the uninitiated Prince fans.

However, I think that we Prince fans know that this performance is tip of the iceberg as far as Prince performing goes, so we might be a little underwhelmed as opposed to the casual observer.

I just watched the opening show of the Musicology tour this morning, and I can honestly say that I think that Superbowl performance was a more enjoyable performance for me than the entire Musicology show.

Just my honest opinion.

it was a jaw-dropping and stunning half-time show. i loved it! i still get chills when i watch it on YouTube or Housequake. i've only watched the superbowl twice: in 2001 to watch the BSB perform the National Anthem and this year to watch Prince. other than that- the Superbowl annoys me b/c too many tourists come down to Miami and act like they own everything.

Watching Prince on TV is like watching dirty movies. It is okay but I rather be there live!

What! Sometimes a guitar is just a cigar.

watch it again. Sure it's the big hits, but the guitar and his supreme confidence in the rain in front of millions of people is amzing. He was in complete control.

I wasn't excited about ANOTHER televised performance of Let's Go Crazy/Purple Rain again because, honestly, I am really sick of him choosing to perform those tired songs when they are 23 years old.

That being said, it was still a great performance of songs he knows inside and out and could do in his sleep. And you could tell he could do it in his sleep. I can only hope that it was his point to show the masses that that sort of performance is child's play to Prince.

Yes. I loved it!! I am sure that some Prince fans might not have liked it, but I adored it. Prince was great.

I loved all the plot twists, the rain on the guitar, which could have been disasterous. The playing of bits on marching band was something he'll probably never do again and i don't believe that he has ever played to that big of an audience and also the cover versions were a unique thing and a great way to make a segue and break the monotony. More than anything though, the passion Prince brings is like a bottomless reservoir that goes much deeper than the songs or how well he plays them, and I think that is why people are touched.

The SB halftime show is legendary now. The response from mainstream media outlets was overwhelmingly positive and many folks realized that the guy is at least one of the greatest ever.

Most footballl fans/non Prince fans remember Prince as the weird Symbol Guy who had peaked during Purple Rain.

The SB halftime show saw him return to the mainstream so his performance really wasn't fam driven.

I watch that thing over and over again. He killed it that night
