dude wats with all these "is prince better that....." threads. Prince is frikin better that everybody! any artist u could think of.

I myself am guilty of falling n2 the fad. on second though i'm rather inclined 2 agree with u. whats the point in comparing? espicially on a site where everyone's a Prince lover

I remember when the world was so enthralled with VanHalen, and I was always getting sneered at because I was a guitarist, but I didn't own a single VH album. I just told people that, while I thought Eddie was a phenomenal player, their songs just didn't do anything for me. Then they would notice the Faster Pussycat CDs in my collection, and really go off on me. I was never ashamed though. Sure FP were not the greatest musicians. But I loved their albums none the less. Still Do. Call it a guilty pleasure. As far as VanHalen... I did finally buy one of their CDs. VHIII! Cherone wrote some amazing songs for them, and I always thought he was a fantastic vocalist.

The point is that we shouldn't feel obligated to like something just because it's considered among the best in its class by the masses, or by our peers. And we certainly shouldn't feel ashamed to admit enjoying something that is not considered "technically good". The only people who should be requiring us to "choose" between one thing or another are people who are trying to sell us something. And there do appear to be a few sales people among us.

So... Who's better? You? Or yourself?

Cuz I don't know the other artists mentioned here well enough to make much of a case...

I still know Prince as an unsurpassable power and I doubt getting into any of these artists will convince me otherwise. He is the ultimate.
