Well I rule out the very best of Prince because it has nothing new to offer. Ultimate Prince does has alot of extended mixes on the 2nd cd. But over all I pick the hits. It has new tracks on it- Peach, Pope, Pink Cashmere, and nothing compares 2 U plus the B-sides (though they are not b-sides power fantastic and 4 the tears in your eyes).

The Hits/B-Sides is a must-have for the previously unavailable on CD tracks and B-Sides.
Ultimate is great for the same reason, but an added bonus is the massaging of the sound quality, and nice packaging. This makes up for what the set actually leaves out song-wise. Very Best Of? Nah. Don't need it. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The Hits/B-Sides. The other two cant compare. The B-Sides alone kill the other two. Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

Exactly! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

The Hits / The B Sides - without a shadow of a doubt. Ultimate is a close second, the sound quality on it is fucking bad ass.
The Very Best of Prince is completely unneccesary. I don't even own it, and I own a LOT of Prince. |

I think most fans benefit most from the Hits/B-sides for the Bsides cd
Disc 2 of Ultimate is pretty nice too, if you don't already have those versions If you will, so will I

3 discs total, The Hits 1&2, then the B-sides. It can be purchased without the B-sides, but that would just be silly. [Edited 5/13/07 17:21pm] Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

The Hits/B-Sides is still, overall, the best one out there. But the other 2 do serve a purpose, including TVBOP, despite what some fans and Prince himself would tell you. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

Exactly. Sure, there's nothing new on it, but this set is squarly aimed at your casual fan who may have caught Purple Rain on TV the night before, or someone making a mix-tape for an '80s themed party. I wonder how many newer fans bought this as their first introduction to Prince? "Best Of" albums are always a good starting point when you want to explore a new artist. The Hits 1 was the first Prince album I ever got, and although I'll probably never listen to it again (as I now own all the albums separately), it will always have a place in my heart.
