hmmm... something fishy...

I noticed that in the weekends papers in the UK there are adverts for Prince's tour. In the corner of the ad there is a little 'Clearchannel' logo...
Prince sponsored by Clearchannel? Surely not.

Oh, yes it's true. To get around Clear Channel, he would have to play in bowling alleys.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

They own radio stations, music and entertainment venues, billboards, television stations, etc.

Oh, and Prince projects them on a big screen at the ONA shows and complains about the state of radio and how the stations are owned by multi-national corporations.

They also promote his concerts.

Funny thing is, suddenly before Prince hits a city, those stations suddenly play his music. Those stations are owned by Clear Channel, who own the concert hall as well.
When Prince leaves the city...no more air play. Back to Shakira as usual.

Clear Channel. Coming soon to an anti-trust suit near you.

This is sooo true! I always laugh at the way the radio stations in my area totally kiss his ass when he's here for a show. They plays his music non-stop,and act as if they've been supporting him all along. Then, when he leaves town, they return to their regular playlists which consists of NO Prince music.

Very true...but it doesn't mean they're sponsoring his concerts like say 'Coke' or 'Pepsi' with banners all over his set and such--but like Ticketmaster, CChannel has a major control over most concert venues today.
Same thing with the Chevy ad with the LRCorvette lyrics. They own a large portion of billboard ads now.
