If Prince quit the Jehovah wit and Larry Graham

How many would be happy if he quit his Jehovah Witness crusade and stop dealing
with Mr.Graham altogether and turned back in to the rebel he once was, not being told or having to live by some guideline or rules that im sure has been broken by other members of his religon , and stop taking direction from Larry. And just come back out with some hardcore stuff, we all know he still has it in him.

it doesn't matter to me as long as it's all healthy and he's got it in perspective and he's not being taken advantage of for his fame. if all that's in place, he could worship boopy the whistling parrot for all i care.

I am sort of in awe of Prince fans who seem to think Prince has become a lot different than he ever was. I think a lot of this is in the mind and not based in any kind of fact. Again, Prince isn't very much different than he has ever been. I challenge you to prove me wrong with some facts about Prince's "change" and not just conjecture. Show me how Prince is noticeably different than he was in the past. Furthermore, show me how that has to do with Larry Graham and JW not just Prince's age.

I'm not going to argue with you because I happen to agree.
In the past week or so, it's become clear to me that Prince is basically timeless & ageless. Age is a meaningless number. Last night, I watched a few of his videos. One was "Black Sweat". While doing so, it became clear to me that the Prince I "knew" in the 80's is still present. That's why he's timeless... he gave me the same vibe he did during the PR era. Just the look in his eyes proves to me that he hasn't changed all that much.
Age doesn't define him as well as his music does. 'Money Don't Matter 2night' has the same level of sophistication that he used in 'The Word' and 'The Dance', 10+ years later.
The only difference is that he's not as obvious with his sexual references, more or less, he approaches it maturely as he would at this day & age (he's near 50, that still blows me away). He has a smoother edge to him in seductive songs like 'Incense & Candles'. Then again, everything can seem tame compared to "Darling Nikki". I find his performances in both seductive, but I'm a bit more trusting of him in 'Incense & Candles'. Hormones seemed to play a larger role in his earlier work. Now that he's grown as a person, he's moved away from that, but his seductive nature is still present, it just takes on a diff. form that better suits him as he is at present.

How dare you, a non-believer, utter the name of the chosen one?

Believe me--it's not that different. In the 90's when he was "being dirty" by swearing and such it often came out a forced and a bit phony in concert.

I just get tired of people who focus so much on what religion Prince is. It is not our responsibility to worry about his soul. pray It is a big enough task worrying about our own. rolleyes (If U don't believe in anything, then fine.)

And as for the "Church of Larry" stuff... if Larry was Jewish and Prince decided to convert to Judaism would that be the religious faith of choice to complain about? How about if Larry was Muslim? Hindu?
disbelief Prince is a grown man. He found a spiritual place where he felt some peace.

If his music makes your ass wiggle the way it is, flow with it... music

Prince's affiliation with the JWs is an interesting development because he's so notoriously bad at long term commitment with anyone, be they bandmates, managers, studios, friends, or lovers. There's a rapid turnover in personel over at Prince Land.

Larry Graham and the JWs have lasted longer than most anyone else in the history of Prince associates. That speaks volumes of the organization's people skills, but also Prince's need for structure and discipline. I think somewhere in his heart Prince knew he was adrift, sorta bouncing around without a purpose, and he needed someone, or something, to help him walk that line.

I credit the JWs and their influence, at least partially, with Prince's current comeback. Through the fatherly presence of Graham, and the hyper-controlling hierarchy of the JW organization, I believe Prince found something he'd sorely been missing: A sense of awe, that there are others even more masterful at manipulation and mind control than him.

Prince has always cultivated a cultish aura anyway, so it's no surprise he found a kindred spirit in the Jehovah's Witnesses. Whether this association will last, who knows? But it's a mistake to blame them for Prince's musical direction. Prince music had already hit a wall and had become numbing ordinary well before Larry Grahama arrived. If anything, it was the totalitarian paranoid JW influence that birthed The Rainbow Children, which was the beginning of Prince's comeback.

Yeah, considering the amount of overgeneralizations in your statement and the fact that don't personally know Prince, I'd say your pretty much just grasping at straws, reading into things without actually knowing, and generally making shit up.

I'm not saying you are wrong--just that you are making some pretty huge fucking leaps and they all seem to stem from how you "see" Prince in your mind.

Im really glad for the man that he wants to be JW and is happy and content (or seems to be) in that way. But I dont credit it for his recent comeback, he did perfectly well withoutt he JWs influence in his life and with his music talent and legion of fans he will never be forgotton.

The thing that gets me is that I have always loved Prince, but am against relgion ("Imagine no religion"), especially strict and cult religions. So there is a real conflict going on in me. For one, I love everything he does and want to listen to everything he does all the time, but the new stuff I listen to is tainted by JW crap. Why cant he say fuck? Why cant he be sexually free? Yeah I know he is approaching 50, but he shouldnt be limited to what his religion allows for him to do and say, yes - I think it is limiting his current work.

Personally, I am glad that Prince is trying to live his life in a well-defined spiritual way, yet still communicating it in an esoteric way, and he is still able to get his spiritual message across without seeming too preachy. I mean COME ON! A man who can still tell ladies to get naked, put on a Japanese robe and sandals, and drink champagne from a glass with chocolate handles is obviously STILL comfortable with his sexuality yet he can express it in a way that won't contradict his religious beliefs. It's genius, if you ask me. So, Prince, keep doing your thang!

Why would I want thim to quit anything that gives him peace? If it works for him then cool. Just don't go looking for some other religion that includes a vow of silence & I'm straight.

no, no, nooooo way!!
everything's just the way it should b...back in the day he was "dirty" or however u wanna call him and that was fine...
but I would be kinda worried if he'd still now-at the age of (almost) 49-be jumping round wearing nothing but some sort of underwear and singing songs like Darling Nikki and stuff...That would b like: Maaan...gee, u need to change the color of ur pills, cuz the ones u taking right now have some terrible side effects!!
