since the both of them are into godly music [which i think is cool] they should make a funky jam 2gether. i heard brighter day by mr franklin and boy that shit is phat. he started the funky gospel music long b4 anyone and should continue, the guy plays near everthing and is a great writer i think prince digs his shit 2. would'nt this b a great combo. some of u are not familiar with kirk should go get some of his cd's they are all phat.

only thing is Kirk Franklin is a Christian whereas Prince is more on the "Jehovah's Witness" side...

I'm not sure if Prince would be willing to work with him but it sure would be GREAT if they did!! Maybe Kirk can show him the real light !

BTW- Kirk has a brand new :CD: out called the Rebirth of Kirk Franklin ... I agree with joelmarable - Kirk's music is off the hook.!! very very talented young man !

At the aftershow at the Miami Glam Slam after the "Jam of the Year" show. (97 or 98 I think)

Rhonda Smith came out in a beutiful dress (kinda see-through) and began a little solo number on the bass and then rest of the band came out and started funkin' it up.

I could't make out the song until Prince came out and started singing the Kirk Franklin (God's Property) song called "Stomp"

It was pretty cool.

Equally cool is:

Everyone in the club seemed to know all the lyrics and sang along.

He played until about 5:30 that night.

Fred Hammond (from the extremely funky group Commissioned -- whose 1980s and 1990s albums laid a lot of groundwork for Kirk and his projects) could probably be better suited for that sort of accolade.

And, even then, Fred probably owes a lot to Edwin Hawkins with his envelope-pushing in the 1970s.

It's way bigger than Kirk, though Kirk's albums have done a lot in recent years to open up the field. Thank goodness.
