Lets face it, the obsession with religion on his records have slowly ruined a once great career. All the awards he is getting now are about RESPECT for a great man, but not because he make great songs NOW. Its respect for a man who made great songs, mostly of a highly sexual and fun nature. I know most people like to grow old gracefully, but Prince shouldnt. He should get back to basics, to his sexual roots.. only then will we hear the great one again. Granted, he has a couple of good albums recently, 3121 and musicology, however these have a "sprinkle" of sexual innuendo in them, without going all the way. Prince PLEASE go all the way, go back to SEX and get dirrrty again, get funky and take us back to the time when you were more cutting edge and sexy, not religious, pompous and boring. Do it for me, and all your great fans!

As much as i love the Controversy era, i don't think i'd want him to go back to being Dirrty NOW. i mean, the man's in his late 40's. It'd be sort of creepy watching a man sing about how he wants to have sex all the time. But his songs are not all about religion nowadays. I mean, 3121 has some pretty sexy songs.

i have to admit though, i don't think i'll ever like any of his records as much as his in the early 80s

Apart from the fact he's deeply religious man (he obviously decided singin' bout dirty little things is a past thing;now totally unappropriated), he sorta "moved on"...Guess it's like the story with cursing. Let's face it, most people that are in their 50s are not very obsessed with sex...especially if they were sex-crazed in their 20s and 30s. Besides, most people tend to get more spiritual and don't promote it as much.

If you put it all out there 24/7, it ceases to be special (or even interesting).

but I like the way he is now. He's getting on in years and I find it hard to picture him going back to basics at age 50 and beyond... that was all in the past and I believe it should stay that way. I think Prince is perfectly comfortable about moving forward and doing new things, not going back to basics just becuz it worked for him so well.

I learned that the hard way from 1985 to 1989, hoping like hell that Prince would go back to his old cold style before "Around The World In A Day" when he became all artsy/fartsy. The "old Prince" NEVER returned.
