Stevie Nicks Mentions Prince on The Today Show She's promoting a new hits collection and host Matt Lauer asked her about the backstory from some songs - she mentioned "Stand Back" is half Prince's song, inspired by driving and listening to Little Red Corvette in her car.

There's a bit more to the story besides inspiration. During the recording of the song she was having difficulty with the bridge and called Prince. He came to the studio, listend to the song and didn't say anything. Stevie said you hate it, to which he replied no...He walked over to the the keyboard and played, one handed, the now infamous keyboard part. years later Nicks said she could never replicate that part in concert. She even tried using two keyboards and nobody could not it right... [Edited 3/30/07 7:06am]

[Edited 3/30/07 7:06am] Every now and then Prince does a part that is so "strange" just u just can't pick it up. Even slowed down it's difficult.

I caught part of her performance of Stand Back during the Superbowl pre-show. It sounded good. Did she do it live today? (I set my DVR to see her but haven't watched it) Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...

Yeah, it was live, but inside the studio, not out on the Plaza.

The member of the entourage was disgusting? Prince was disgusting? or Prince did something with Stevie that was disgusting?

A guitar playing friend of mine who played with Hendrix and hangs out with Paul McCatney quite a bit tells me that Stevie's natural key if F, which he says is a hard key for guitar players. If this is so, just another measure of Prince's remarkable gift of music..
Are there any guitar players on the Org who can comment? The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

Are there any guitar players on the Org who can comment? Neither F major nor F minor is a difficult key for a reasonably accomplished guitar player. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

[Edited 3/30/07 7:06am] Actually,Prince was in the studio down the hall, and he and Nicks kinda bumped into each other; but the rest is history! That is a nice piece of songwriting!
