hmmm... This would truly be an awesome combo
only thing is Kirk Franklin is a Christian whereas Prince is more on the "Jehovah's Witness" side... I'm not sure if Prince would be willing to work with him but it sure would be GREAT if they did!! Maybe Kirk can show him the real light ! BTW- Kirk has a brand new :CD: out called the Rebirth of Kirk Franklin ... I agree with joelmarable - Kirk's music is off the hook.!! very very talented young man ! www.3121.com
it is the symbol of total transformation. Butterfly represents a need for change and greater freedom, and at the same time it represents courage: one requires courage to carry out the changes

Moderator | At the aftershow at the Miami Glam Slam after the "Jam of the Year" show. (97 or 98 I think)
Rhonda Smith came out in a beutiful dress (kinda see-through) and began a little solo number on the bass and then rest of the band came out and started funkin' it up. I could't make out the song until Prince came out and started singing the Kirk Franklin (God's Property) song called "Stomp" It was pretty cool. All Rights Reserved. |

It's my suspicion that Supernova was probably saying that Kirk didn't start the "funky gospel" movement, which he didn't. He helped popularize an extremely urban sound in gospel music (especially with his knack for the remix). but, he was far from the first. Fred Hammond (from the extremely funky group Commissioned -- whose 1980s and 1990s albums laid a lot of groundwork for Kirk and his projects) could probably be better suited for that sort of accolade. And, even then, Fred probably owes a lot to Edwin Hawkins with his envelope-pushing in the 1970s. It's way bigger than Kirk, though Kirk's albums have done a lot in recent years to open up the field. Thank goodness.
