Actually, I think it would come down to what mood he's in. If he's not really in a good mood, then I'd let him call the shoots. He's a free-spirit, so he's entitled to have his way if he's unhappy about the circumstances.
If he's in a talkative mood, though, I'd let him choose the subject of conversation, but he's in a more generous mood, I'd ask him all about how he writes music and such. And if we had time, I'd talk to him about "Gold", how he came up with the idea for it and why he thought about making it a song, etc. There's so many questions I could ask him about it. If there's anything I'd want to take away from bringing it up, it would be his own interpretation of it and I'd tell him my own... It'd be neat if we could come to an understanding or if he'd commend me 4 seeing it that particular way... Dare 2 dream, I say. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Well, i'd pretend i didn't know him, you know? Not call him prince or anything, just..another guy! Actually FIRST i'd pretend i had somewhere VERY IMPORTANT i had to be. Like my life was bigger than eating pringles while watching reruns of friends. You know, like take out my cellphone and go "Hey dan? Yea it's me, i'm gonna be running a little late, so cancel my meeting with (enter famous politician) and see if you could reschedule..."
