Prince & Mavis Staples...

I was watching the VH1C doc that aired today (yeah... the one everyone's scowling about - never seen it!!), and there was a segment featuring Mavis. I didn't realize that they had worked extensively together. What's the history there? Are these recordings available? Or were they released on NPGMC only?

You mean "The Prince of Paisley Park"? I love that show, I watched it today myself. Mavis did have several albums out that were produced/written by Prince. The first one was "Time Waits For No One", and the second one was "The Voice". These are both excellent, and if you can find them, you should definitely check them out.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

mavis did quite a bit of work too on some unreleased work, and Prince has very often covered some of her or The staple singer's tracks live.
But for all of these kinda "basic info" threads... Per Nilsen anyone? It's so much nicer to share opnions...

Prince did Mavis's song "When will we be paid, for the work we've done" it's with "You make my sun shine". One of my favorites!

Thanx for the info everyone. I just looked up those two discs. Looks like they're out of print, but still pretty easy to get ahold of. I'll definately be getting them in the near future! Can't wait to hear her take on Positivity!
