Pussy Control I understand now.
Fury - im just plain out confused. U must have heard it on the news this morning Congratulations! A new star is born Sun 2 a shadow, rose 2 a thorn There ain't no fury like a woman scorned Who is the new star ? is it Prince ? is it Mani ? Y'all must have dug it, when u did your thang It's like a song, everybody wanna sang When the music's over, ur ears ring With a voice that's saying, "Queen got no King!" Is he saying, that new star wife is lonely ? or the new star is lonely ? He got a message saying, u tried 2 reach him on the phone He didn't wanna answer cuz he's so afraid U'd probably tell him just 2 leave u alone ok is he saying that Someone tried to reach him, but he aint wanna awnser because he's afraid of her or something, but even if he did, she'd tell him to go away ? U must have heard he got another band They're makin' money, they're makin' plans U feel left out, but u need 2 understand Word on the street - he's still ur man (he's still ur man) okkk so he's got a new crew, but he still loves her ? Look out, here comes ur rainy day Now u think you got a good reason 2 say Everything that's in ur heart, come what may Even though his might get broken uhhh ..... Who's the guilty one when there ain't no judge or jury? Shadow 2 the sun, next 2 the one Hell ain't got no fury Did she cheat ? but yet he's not mad . It will approach us, the debt he's been in Open to the heart in need of mending Will this song have a happy ending? Only the woman knows, only she knows ok she left him ? 2 sides 2 every story One man's gloom is another man's glory Sun 2 a shadow, rose 2 a thorn Ain't no fury like a woman scorned Ain't no fury like a woman scorned No fury like a woman scorned ok so she got a new man ? Your lips would make a lollipop too happy.

Negrita, I think there is some similarity between Guitar and Fury (I actually started a thread about that a few weeks ago). Without going too deep into Fury's lines, Guitar makes it much simpler. No woman- even his wife- can come between him and his music, and he's not willing to leave it alone even long enough to save his marriage. Obviously, he would expect his woman to understand this.
This would be the key carryover verse between the 2 songs- imo... "U must have heard he got another band They're makin' money, they're makin' plans U feel left out, but u need 2 understand Word on the street - he's still ur man" Not much different than "you know I love you baby, but not like I love my guitar". A lot of the rest, I think, is just him kind of going off on her. "Look out, here comes ur rainy day", as if she's been "saving up" either her anger, or her money to leave him and unleash her "fury". just some thoughts I just found the similarity in theme interesting as he never really said it so clearly before with other break-up songs, where the same issue (his workaholic tendencies) probably had a role. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

I've only heard the song once, pretty good song. Usually when it comes to Prince, I can understand the meaning behind his lyrics say... 75-80% of the time. I was listening to Musicology (it sounds great btw-- its been 2 long), and I still feel a little lost in some of the lyrics. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance... I don't understand the title's reference to the song... pimp & circumstance I get... Ok, maybe it's because it's late and but i think i can answer this question. (please forgive me if it's already been answered) Illusion is the state of the relationship. Doris and the guy are tricking themselves into believing what they have is somthing more than him "hipping her to the funk in exchange for the finance" or maybe it's the illusion they're casting over the people around them because they seem to know what's going on, especially by the end of the song "when doris caught him in her arms..." the "coma" part is much along the same way of "illusion" meaning...how can I put this. Something in their "relationshit" is asleep, deep asleep, maybe never to be awaken. There relationship was more like a business agreement than an acutual relationship "she hipped him with a crib in paris, he hipped her to the funk" and "as long as she's providing chips and whips we can do this funky thing" in sort of a "let's ignore what's really happening" and as you said "pimp and circumstance" is explainable. This is one of my favorite songs on "musicology" by the way. Damn, I miss college. I don't try to interpret "reflections" i just let it wash over me. I love that song too. Join me under the waterfall

I gues that makes things a little clearer for me. "Catch the glass b4 it falls" sounds like a saying that I've never heard b4, but it's a very sweet song. Very relaxed and the overall message is very good. I've always had a certain like for "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance"... although I really don't like the strain I hear in his voice when he first starts singing it... find it kinda annoying, other than that, I like the song a lot. Musicology overall is a very good album that people have been hard on, saying that Prince "didn't put too much effort into it" or "it was Prince playing it safe". I could care less about that. I'd take it any day over the garbage I hear on the radio, it's the perfect antidote 4 it. There's a raw quality that I just really like about it,but it just took me the right time and a little patience to find. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
