i think i can agree. i haven't listened to mainstream radio for the simple fact that i get tired abt hearing abt how much money rappers have (that's great- now spend it wisely and give back to ure community), sex, girls, etc.
.

I know, really! What happened to love songs...I'm sick of hearing them "Blah blah girl you look good...wanna take you back to my crib..I got so much money...blah blah blah blah" I really hate it when men in real life talk like that too. That is not appealing at all. I find it really quite obnoxious. They really need to go back and listen to some '80s R&B and learn how to talk to women. No one sings about falling deep in love anymore. neutral

No, they really don't. It's like what Prince says in "Reflection". Eye wanna hear U play this old song. It's about love.
Having never experienced it personally, I learn about love thru music by my favorite artists. Michelle Branch's album "The Spirit Room" and some of Jesse McCartney's material, along with Ryan Cabrera... the list goes on...

But never have I heard of love spoken the way Prince speaks of it. Not only with the maturity of the material I'd never be exposed to otherwise, but he goes deep, using his specialty: cyptic lyrics, to describe what he's seen, where he's been, etc. Love songs with cryptic lyrics that come from the depths of his heart... now that's a beautiful love song. Mainstream music speaks of it in a foreign langugage and it sounds fake...
That's another reason Prince beats the pants off mainstream radio.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

for the past 3 years, i've only listened to the local Oldies station in my area and the CDs I like. i'll put 3 Cds in and hit "random"- its like my radio station w/o the commercials.

even in school, when I'm walking on campus- they play all this contemporary stuff- who wants to hear loud rock @ 7 in the morning?!?! i'm constantly walking around w/ my iPod plugged in my ears tight b/c i can't take it anymore.only once did I hear a Prince song (it was prolly Lolita or Black Sweat) and I was so shocked that I dropped my iPod on the floor. but then I found out it was b/c they had this "American Heritage" thing.
"So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..." whistle
