cool Justin dropped 2 solo albums & just because he still has his following (N-Suck)fans...those albums have done well. Prince is a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Member. He has a resume as long as Justin's height. Justin should not even be classed in the same catergory as Prince.

How can you compare these two? Justin is a boy and Prince is a man.

I could write a novel's worth of discussion on why it's an insult compare JT's work to Prince's, but I'll just name a few key points. And I'm not hating on JT here. I have his lastest album. It's a nice piece of pop fluff, but it's just that: pop fluff. Sure, he's moderately talented, and there's far worse music out there than his; I just don't think he's worthy of the hype that's been bestowed upon him.

1. JT is nowhere near the master of instruments that Prince was at 26. Prince has always been self-produced, writing his own songs, and playing all of the instruments on some of his early albums. JT's keyboard skills are adequate, but nothing amazing. And is it just me, or does JT look awkward holding a guitar? I'd like to see him play the guitar licks from Prince's early song's "I'm Yours" or "Bambi", which were pretty impressive coming from a musician in his late-teen/early 20s. Let's see if JT can play piano as well as Prince did on the "LoveSexy" tour in four more years.

2. JT's hits aren't as timeless as Prince's. Prince was JT's age when he wrote "Purple Rain". If JT is still around in 23 years, do you think he could get a stadium full of football fans to sing the chorus of anything off of "FutureSex/LoveSounds" in unison, the way people did when Prince played "Purple Rain" at the Super bowl? Do you think the opening bars of "SexyBack" will get a crowd going in 23 years the way the opening lines from "Let's Go Crazy" still does?

3. JT's lyrical subject matter pales in comparison to Prince's. Seems like all of JT's songs are about seeing some girl in a club and trying to get with her. Let's see if JT can write a song with the emotion of "Purple Rain", or as psychologically fascinating as "When You Were Mine" or "If I Was Your Girlfriend", or as moving as "Sometimes It Snows in April". Hell, there's not a single lyric on any of JT's albums that even compare to the genius of the Trojan/condom/horse metaphor in "LRC".

4. JT hasn't mastered the range of musical styles that Prince has. One thing I've always loved about putting on a new Prince record for the first time is not knowing what I was about to hear. Prince could cover more musical styles in a single album than most musicians master in a lifetime. All of the songs on JT's solo albums seem stuck in the same groove. Listen to "Raspberry Beret", "Temptation", and "Condition of the Heart" in that order, keeping in mind that it's the same musician and a single album. Then listen to any 3 songs on "FutureSex" at random. Not much range there, is it?

So what is USA Today going to ask next: "Who is the better songwriter: Joni Mitchell or Alanis Morrissette?"

Gimme a break.

Not if I can help it. But, if Justin wins...it just proves my opinion. All you have to do is play a song on the radio or a video on MTV 3000 times and they love it. It's called brainwashing.

You ever notice that you will be listening to the radio and hear a song by Beyonce..like Irreplaceable...and you will hate it? Then after listening to it for the 500th time, all of a sudden you love it? I hated the song when I heard it the first time, and I still hate it.

Oh, and this didn't really fit in with my previous list, but I'm so glad Prince had a greater since of maturity at 26 than JT does.

Did any of you see the Kid's Choice Award commercial with JT belching? I'm so glad Prince never did anything like that.

Sure, assless pants ain't exactly high class, but who other than Prince would have the balls to wear them?

But, belching a commercial announcement is just juvenille.

I'm not too impressed with the person who did the little write ups. Under the "Actions" column, the only sexy act she could come up with for Prince was the "shadow puppet" controversy at the Super Bowl. I think I could suggest a few more examples for her than that...

I voted just to show who's boss... (I'm sure someone will say that Bruce Springsteen is "The Boss") but that's hardly the point here.

All very true. After my boybands split up, I didn't follow thru with any of their solo careers (Jesse McCartney is the one exception to this, but he's a special case). My fav. guy in *NSYNC was Lance (and he turned out to be gay, but that's fine, it's not the first time), Justin was my least favorite. Now I really can't stand him.

I was outraged when I first heard of such a thing. Where do they get off comparing sure brilliance to... Justin Timberlake? I mean, c'mon... there's no contest.

Prince has true talent. He's like one of those old-fashioned musicians that writes all of their own music and dedicates a lot of time to perfecting it. And of course we all know he's more than old-fashioned, he's kept up with today's music trends (3121 is proof that he's selling out a little to what the public wants most... but tracks like "The Word" prove he's still Prince)

Justin is just riding off the fact he was part of the most popular boyband on the planet... and he caters to what people listen to nowadays: crudy, mainstream rap, R&B, you name it. I have a severe dislike for 95% of mainstream music today. Justin is only one of those reasons why.

Prince is timeless not only because I feel like he doesn't age. Age is the last thing on my mind. It's more or less a reference point for his work. I could go on about metaphors that would describe him and make him sound superior to Justin. I'll just stick with my 2 favorites.
Someone said that Prince is like wine, he improves with age and his music reflects the wisdom he's gained on his long journey, so he's of better taste and class.
People will still be talking about him long after he's gone (in many, many years). So I guess you could say Prince is like a diamond in the rough becuz a diamond is forever.
