I hid between my notebooks and had to sneak out just the vynil and listen to it on head phones. Devious bastard. My parents like prince now, but still not that album. I taped on cassette immediately. Believe it or not, it was Soft and Wet. I'm from South Carolina and used to live on this long dirt road back then. I used to hear that song coming from all the cool guys' 8-track systems when they were easing down that dirt road as to not get their cars dusty. I was like 12 yrs old at the time and that sound was unlike anything else I had ever heard; it was like if I could write music, that was what it would sound like! And with the subsequent release of "Prince", and the "Time" I've been hooked ever since. Well, until 1987 anyway! | |
