The guitar solo from Tempation: wow!

I haven't listened to this song for a long time.

But while listening to this song right now i am flabbercasted by the brilliant guitarsolo. Such energy, such a laconic, cocky but also confident delivery.

I know, it is hard to describe in words, but this is definitely one of Princes best guitar solos ever!

oops, mistyped the title. Its Temptation of course.

But i would like to ad that this song shows what i am missing a lot in Princes recent music: the almost 'manic' energy, the screams and howls, the unhibited expressionality.

I don't know if "expressionality" is a word, but I agree with the enthusiasm smile

I love the guitar parts in Temptation... it's messy but really wild. Love the long delay effect and the distorted tone too.

Speaking of great Prince guitar moments, I'd forgotten just how good the solos are in songs like "The Morning Papers" and "I Will"...

I love the rehearsal from Nice, October 1985...be nice to have a soundboard of that complete thing.

I always thought "Temptation" is the most in-your-face sexually-charge song Prince has ever done. The main riff is just so nasty; the song sounds like it could literally explode at any minute.

The whole "ATWIAD" album is musically fascinating. Prince did a lot in Db with cross-over chords from other keys, and it worked beautifully.

The chord progression in "The Ladder" is just sublimely perfect. I can play that one all day on the guitar and never get bored.

I know, I agree - one of the many princely reasons why I, and many other women of my age fell in love with him back then and haven't turned back since... hug

Great Points! This song should've been pointed to on the Jimi Hendrix influence thread of a week ago.

ah yes Temptation.

"not just talkin bout ordinary temptation people
but the kinda temptation that'll make u do thangs....."

lemmie go dig this one out and play it real loud like i did on so many occasions when I was 11-12 years of age when the album just came out.

on the day that this album came out, i cried because my father wouldn't take me to the record store to get it after he got home from work. but then he took me after he realized how much i wanted it. smile the prince fever had already taken control.
