Interesting. I love me some Journey so I think I'll take another listen. Usually similiarities in songs will jump out at me but it didn't happen with these two songs. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I just listened to both songs and I cosign that the ending of PR does sound eerily similar to Faithfully(which is one of my favorite Journey songs). I too was a huge Journey fan back in the day. I find it interesting that Faithfully is about a musicians life on the road and PR is about a musicians life. More power to them both. There's only so many things you can do with an electric guitar and I bet Prince looked better doing his solo.....

OK I just went to BubeTube & now I'm slapping myself for not remembering the song which after the first four notes I was like "duh!" That was one of my favs. Yeah gotta admit since I was actually listening for it, the ending does sound like PR (or vice versa) I could even sing the ending & imagin where the pinao part went.

ufoclub said: I've had that song hammered into my head being in middle school and high school when Journey was played a lot... but I never once thought of "Faithfully" when I saw and heard "Purple Rain". The Journey video was played a lot on MTV before Purple Rain came out, and no one, not even my Rush, Journey wannabe musician friends ever mentioned this odd similarity...
how funny. I could've said it exactly the same way ufo. I'm amazed I never heard about this before, and I sure never noticed myself. And I was a BIG Journey fan back in the day. Funny thing is Faithfully never was one of my favorite songs of theirs....but I loved that album. Separate Ways is killer, one of my all time favorite songs till this day. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...
