Each of the songs ended exactly when I wanted them to, the way I wanted them. I thought 'Get on the Boat' was a good ending cuz it continued on until I wanted it to stop. But as a song, I still gotta give it a few more listens b4 I'm sure. The album held no suprises 4 u then? It is a very tame album. If u can find a more hip word to replace "tame" but with the same meaning, we may be able 2 agree. It still had surprises, every Prince album I purchase does. I like nearly all of the songs on it and that was a +, compared to Musicology, where there are still a few tracks im unsure about. I guess 3121 is tame... but I guess that depends on what you compare it to. Still doesn't change the fact that we hit it off on the first listen. I didn't get that with the other albums I bought... as hard as it is to believe, I didn't hit it off at first listen with TGE or Musicology... well Musicology is believable... but in both cases, I had certain expectations that weren't met, that's all. Now I'm crazy about TGE (just can't stop playing it, heh)... and I gotta give Musicology another listen. I definitely feel like I've been in the past 4 too long and I need to get back to the present (or not-so distant past). Sorry, that was a little off-topic. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. the thread should be re-titled "this is the worst headline for a thread ever"
i love Get on the Boat, although the extended ten minute jam of it he did in Vegas was much better he should just do live albums from now on

It is a little cheesy, but I appreciate the song more since the live performance on the pre-Superbowl press conference. Anyway, it doesn't seem that different from other albums (e.g. Prettyman at the end of Rave).

vinx98 said: 3121 - A great album, but what a lame a** song Get on the Boat is! Really?? After all the great end of album songs Prince made throughout his career, GOTB has got to be the lamest and weakest. Just no life or spark to it at all. Real disappointment.
http://www.soundclick.com...ID=5159083 www.slumberlords.co.uk What are you talking about? I love Get on the boat. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

:takes a deep breath:
Ok, finally... I listened to the album thru and I can finally comment. I say that it's a very good ending for the album. On the first time I listened, I felt like it could read my mind. It just came to my attention that it was the last song and I didn't wnat the experience to end, so it kept going until I wanted it to stop. I've said how 3121 sounds like Prince selling out to what mainstream music sounds like... this song helps level out the playing field. The theme is simple, but as far as instrumentals go, he goes all out and that's a very good quality in a album-ending song. TGE & Purple Rain b4 it have done the same and to diff. respects, have pulled off the job nicely. It's also a good song to dance to, very cheery & joyous (helps pick up the mood after "The Dance", which kinda has a sad ending 4 Prince), and any album should go out on a high note like that. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
