agreed. 3121 is a great song, but it wouldnt make sense as the last song of that album, GOTB is also out of place. Positivity, not a great song, but really works at the end of Lovesexy.. Adore, probebly the best finale ever, Party Up, Purple Rain, Sometimes it snows in April, etc.. all great closers.. but GOTB??¿?¿?

if the entire song was the ending drum and whatever the hell noise sheila makes then it would rock.

I can't see it working elsewhere on the album. Suitable closing track, imo.

that's exactly what saves the end of the album. only barely, but it does.
i wish that portion would be extended to at least 2 or 3 minutes. that'd
make for a nice finale.

kind of like the end of "The War" with all that mad percussion going on.

yeah, that sucks!!!! you just know the song could easily go on for
another 3 or 4 minutes. think of a Renato solo in there and a bit
of prince guitar or a bass solo

The problem with Get on the Boat being the ending on 3121 is that it comes after The Dance! I mean the Dance takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and leaves you breathless when it ends abruptly, then Get on The Boat comes on and totally kills the mood. 3121 would have been even better if The Dance was the last song.

I like get on the boat personally. But even if I didn't, I can't imagine any worse ending to an album than Orgasm. Complete waste of space in my opinion.

"Live 4 Love" gets this honor, IMO. What better way to end anything off than with an orgasm? biggrin

Id go one better and say that if the Dance was the last song, it would be considered one of his best ever albums..

Just think if SOTT didnt end with Adore, but say.. "Hot Thing", we wouldnt be calling it great now..

After listening a bit to 3121 on the mp3 player I moved GOTB to the second song and placed Te' Amo Corazon at the end of the playlist.

The start of the album flows much better with four up tempo songs and ends more smoothly.

I agree, I don't think it should even be on the album, it sounds like a Musicology 'left-over' to me. That's why it dont sound like it belongs, it's uplifting, like a bit of an encore, but don't fit the album.

3121 - A great album, but what a lame a** song Get on the Boat is! Really?? After all the great end of album songs Prince made throughout his career, GOTB has got to be the lamest and weakest. Just no life or spark to it at all. Real disappointment.

I like it. It's jazzy and has a latin flavor, and it's loaded with positivity.

I really like Get on the Boat. I love the Latin vibe, and I hope to hear more of that from Prince. My only complaint is that the vocals should have had more energy, and it could have been a bit faster.

I agree... I love the whole set-up of it and the way I felt that he could read my mind throughout my first listen. Each of the songs ended exactly when I wanted them to, the way I wanted them. I thought 'Get on the Boat' was a good ending cuz it continued on until I wanted it to stop.

But as a song, I still gotta give it a few more listens b4 I'm sure.

The album held no suprises 4 u then?
It is a very tame album. If u can find a more hip word to replace "tame" but with the same meaning, we may be able 2 agree.
